What are the best overall Criterion releases?

I own about 35 Criterion releases, mostly some of the older ones that I bought on DVD before Blu Ray existed. I would like to purchase a couple with the BN sale that's currently going on.

Which releases are the best overall packages? Mostly, I'd be looking for really worthwhile extras in addition to a great film -- for example, I own a couple titles that have a whole separate hard-to-find film or documentary included in the extras.

However, solid extras don't have to find your criteria. Just list your favorite releases, for any reason, and let me know why you like them so much.

Thanks!

Brazil - I love the design of the packaging for the DVD set.
By Brakhage: Anthology, Vol. 1 & 2 - Great Boxed Set.
A Film Trilogy By Igmar Bergman - Great Boxed Set.
The Devil And Daniel Webster - Great film not on BD.
Short Cuts - Great film not on BD.
Unfaithfully Yours - Great film not on BD.
Forbidden Games - Great film not on BD.
Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales - Great Boxed Set not on BD.
Monsters And Madmen - Great Boxed Set not on BD.
49th Parallel - Great film not on BD.
Vampyr - Great film not on BD.
The Exterminating Angel - Great film not on BD.
The Golden Age Of Television - Great Boxed Set.
Roberto Rossellini's War Trilogy - Great Boxed Set not on BD.
3 Silent Classics By Josef Von Sternberg - Great Boxed Set not on BD.
Any Eclipse DVD Set is worth grabbing on sale as well.

The Seventh Seal-It's an essential film for any fan of international cinema. The BD contains a feature-length documentary on Bergman's life and work.
Sullivan's Travels-If you like comedy, get this one. It also has a feature-length PBS doc about Sturges.
La Dolce Vita--Brilliant film. Another essential for any film library.
The Friends of Eddie Coyle-Mitchum at his best as a small-time hood who naively thinks there is honor among thieves
Don't Look Now-An atmospheric horror/suspense movie filmed in Venice.

Off the top of my head:

Eclipse series:
NIKKATSU NOIR: five films, some of which are amazing, some are just interesting, but definitely an eye-opener.
THE WARPED WORLD OF KOREYOSHI KURAHARA: five amazing films.
KENJI MIZOGUCHI'S FALLEN WOMEN - Not my favorite Japanese director, but these films are easily the best of the films I've seen by him, especially the early ones included.

Individual films:
F FOR FAKE - great film, with some great extras

"The Beastie Boys Anthology" was the first one I bought and is still flat out the best Criterion DVD, being the most creative using the DVD technology. Commentaries, alternate audio tracks, multi angle, 5.1 and 2.0 mixes, Karaoke subtitles, and lots of bonus materials. Have over 500 Criterions, so that's me dropping the mic.

I saw this when it first came out at theaters.....I'd rate it right up there with Goodfellas. It really captures that time as well....

Re: What are the best overall Criterion releases?

Hard question because it's so subjective. Buy what you like first and foremost. Releases I really liked recently were:
Red River
My Darling Clementine
The Zatoichi set
Odd Man Out
Ride the Pink Horse
also anything Noir, Kurosawa, or Preston Sturges and all the stuff recommended above.

The Night and the City BD release coming up will be great and include the alternate British cut which has never been released.
