I've watched a handful of interviews with GRRM and the guy is just really likeable. I feel like fans of the show owe it to him to at least give the books a try.

We have different definitions of likeable I guess. I can't stand the man AT ALL. He's a great writer but I hate his guts.

No real spoilers here, pretty amusing:

You know, I was planning on reading the books over the summer as well, but I was SO shocked by last week's episode (in a good way), I'm now of the opinion it's more fun not to know what's coming up.
I do prefer the WALKING DEAD's way of doing things though...where you can read both at the same time and still have no idea what's going to happen. Maybe at some point GOT will take that path.

I predict a lot of people will post tonight that they were disappointed with this episode after last weeks.
I haven't read the books, so I have no idea what it coming, but I look forward to seeing how tonight's episode sets up next season. Is it really the season finale already?!?

It'll be good but as with the previous finales, it'll serve more as wrap up of this season's story lines and setting the players for next year. Still, things will happen, but not on the scale of the ninth episodes.
I do predict, however, that (no actual spoiler, just a feeling)

Is there a bad episode of GoT?
In all seriousness, they are splitting book three across two seasons, so none of us really knows what they have planned for this episode vs. what they will cover next season. I can tell you that there is still some awesome stuff to cover in book three, but how much will they get to tonight? Beats me.

Great fake-out with Theon and Ramsey. Given what we've seen so far, I wouldn't have put it past them to show something that sick. Tyrion had some great lines tonight. Danerys is definitely being built as a leader. The final shot tonight with thousands of thousands looking to her as their ruler is a great contrast to the final shot of the first where it's a scant few Dothraki. The way they did the whole Wolfhead on Robb's body was really effective, gave off a "am I really seeing this?" vibe. Glad the Hound let Arya get some form of vengeance.
I am curious from a book standpoint how next season will prove. While there's still quite a bit left in some aspects, they've pretty well covered all bases in other regards. Definitely think they will have to get into AFFC material to fill next season.

Oh well, at least we had the Hodor echo.
It looks like next season Daenerys is all I got to root for. That scares me. She's probably end up killed in no time.
And Groucho wins the thread!

Seeing RobbWind was just about as brutal as reading it. Glad they didn't cut doing this.
Aryas first kill was nicely done. Looking forward to continuing her and the hounds scenes next season.
The small council meeting was excellent. However, didn't care for the mhysa scene. Was just blah for me.
