Favorite Christmas Movies/TV Specials
For a couple of years now I been buying some Christmas Movies and TV episodes and just recently started ripping them to a hard drive. I like the idea of having a "Christmas Hard Drive" I can play anywhere during December.
So anyways I was wondering which are some Christmas TV episodes/ Movies that deserve special mention or you guys love watching every Christmas season.
As for myself these are some of my favorites
- Die Hard
- Bad Santa
- It's a Wonderful Life
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon)
- Home Alone
- Disney's Christmas Sing Along
- Love Actually
- Scrooge (with Bill Murray)

I watch It's a Wonderful Life every year on Christmas Eve.
Other titles that I usually toss on:
Gremlins
Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 or 2 ("Garbage day!")
Black Christmas
Christmas Evil
Ernest Saves Christmas
Rankin/Bass classics

'It's a Wonderful Life'
'A Christmas Carol' - 1984 George C Scott, easily the best adaptation
'A Christmas Carol' - 1951 Alistair Sims
'A Christmas Story'
'Miracle on 34th Street' 1947
'A Charlie Brown Christmas'
'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer' - Rankin Bass
'Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas'
'White Christmas'
'Scrooged'
'Christmas Vacation'
'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'
'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' - Rankin Bass
'Little Drummer Boy' - Rankin Bass
Hell just about every Rankin Bass ever made about the holiday, love them all.
There's a few.

I'm just letting you know...I fucking hate A Christmas Story. It bears no level of enjoyment for me. I fear being around a TV during that period of time...especially if TBS has a damn 24hr marathon of that shit film. *veins popping*
On a lighter note...
Die Hard
Batman Returns
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Scrooged
Love Actually

Watched Fred Santa the other night... well half of it. What a lump of coal that was. Billed as a comedy yet devoid of any semblance of jokes.
As for favorites, they mostly go to the tv specials; Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty, and now Prep & Landing.

March of the Wooden Soldiers was the one move we always looked forward to around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Actually saw it in the theater when it came out. It amazed us.

I think we debate the merits of A Christmas Story every year I don't have much fondness for it myself but I also didn't see it as a kid.
Standbys:
My kids insist on this one, and I admit I like it too. It has a nice little Broadway subangle.

I alternate between the MST3K version of Santa Claus vs. the Martians and the MST3K version of Santa Claus every year. I am only slightly exaggerating when I say the former saved my life.
I also watch one of the SCTV Christmas episodes every year, but that's about it. I actually have more Halloween movie traditions than I do for Christmas.

Re: Favorite Christmas Movies/TV Specials
I'm a sucker for any movie version of A Christmas Carol. Hell, I even like the one with Susan Lucci.
Charlie Brown
It's a Wonderful Life - Although it was more fun when it was public domain and you could see it on pretty much every channel.
Rankin/Bass - Of course!
Elf
Christmas Every Day
Christmas Eve on Sesame Street

Re: Favorite Christmas Movies/TV Specials
I separate all of my Christmas Blus and DVDs from the rest of my collection. I think I have about 20 different titles. Most of them are watched several times around this time of year. I tend to toss in Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, and all of the Rankin/Bass shows. I even have a soft spot for Jingle All the Way.

of course the classics that have already been mentioned, but I thought the newer cartoon "Prep and Landing" was surprisingly excellent.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
(hey, somebody had to say it).
And One Magic Christmas. Sarah Polley's first movie. Has firearms, explosions, and car chases.
