What are your favorite Spanish language films?
I've seen many foreign movies in my lifetime, but I realized that most are of the Asian persuasion (Korean, Chinese). The only Spanish language film that sticks out for me is Pans Labyrinth (although I'm sure I'm blanking on quite a few).
So what are yours?

Re: What are your favorite Spanish language films?
Tarantino, this dvd is great blind-buy. It's one of the most amazing Spanish films ever.

Amores Perros (Ińárritu)
Tesis (Amenábar) very underrated movie that still does not have a US release!
Abre los ojos (Amenábar) - The original and better version of Vanilla Sky also with Penelope
Hable con Ella (Almodóvar) - My favorite Almodovar film but i tend to like all his films
El Laberinto del Fauno (del Toro)

Re: What are your favorite Spanish language films?
Spanish films? Why would I want to watch shitty stories filmed with shitty cameras and shitty film stock with shitty directors and shitty actors all speaking in a shitty language?

Ditto, though I'm not familiar with In a Glass Cage. I'm much less well-versed in Spanish films than I am in French, German, Italian or Japanese cinema.

My personal favorites?
Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes)
Talk To Her (Habla Con Ella)
A few more good ones that aren't on the list below are:
Nine Queens
Maria Full of Grace
Y Tu Mama Tambien.
and just to toss out some names, here is a list of Spanish language films that were nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, since 1990:
1992 -- A Place in the World
1993 -- Belle Epoque (winner)
1994 -- Strawberry and Chocolate
1997 -- Secrets of the Heart
1998 -- The Grandfather
1998 -- Tango
1999 -- All About My Mother (winner)
2000 -- Amores Perros
2001 -- Son of the Bride
2002 -- El Crimen del Padre Amaro
2005 -- The Sea Inside (winner)
2006 -- Pan's Labyrinth
2009 -- The Secret in Their Eyes (winner)
2009 -- The Milk of Sorrow
Out of these, I really like All About My Mother, Amores Perros, The Sea Inside, and The Grandfather. Tango was a very beautiful film, but not a good plot. Pan's Labyrinth was OK, as was Son of the Bride. I haven't seen the others.
I see some people recommending The Devil's Backbone - I really didn't care for this film. Nor Cronos.

Curse of the Crying Woman is a fun horror movie, and Salazar's movies in The Vampire Collection are pretty good.

I tend to go with Luis Bunuel on this one and films like LOS OLVIDADOS (1950).
Also, I once saw a Mexican melodrama with music called AVENTURERA (1950), which I loved. That's probably my favorite. Also there was a Cuban film I liked a lot, a comedy called DEATH OF A BUREAUCRAT (I forget the year).

2 off the top:
"Like Water for Chocolate" was pretty good.
Pan's Labyrinth did nothing for me.

You need to immediately introduce yourself to the works of Pedro Almodovar. If nothing else, start with Talk To Her or Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, his two best movies IMO.
