Favorite running joke

I'm watching News Radio on DVD, and I've found there is one surefire way to get me to laugh: have a character turn to Joe and say "Wait -- your last name is Garrelli?" It never fails to crack me up.

What's everyone else's favorite running gag?

Re: Favorite running joke

In Family Guy, whenever Peter gets kicked or hit in the shins and his reaction to it never fails to crack me up.

Robot Chicken

- Gag credits that change each time for Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mila Kunis, and a random Chicky Robo employee.

- Oh, and the stupid monkey's various ways of offing itself.

The running joke I really like about Always Sunny is the way they cut to the title of the episode.

So many good running gags on that show. My favorite has to be "It's an illusion, Michael. A trick is something a whore does for money." Either that or the chicken impersonations ("Has anyone in this family ever seen a chicken?")

I love that one

"Didn't you read that goddamn thing?"
"I gave it a once-over!

Sawyer's nicknames for everyone on LOST. Even when he already created one for them, he'll make up another one.

Arrested Development - "I've made a huge mistake"

Friends - "We were on a break !!"

Newhart = "Hi, my name is Larry, this is my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl"

Scrubs -- Dr Cox calling JD girl's names -- and always dumping on Hugh Jackman

Arrested Development - Tobias' comments always sounding gay.

"No, no, no, no. I was scared too, but I realized it was of being a leading man. Oh, I can just taste those meaty leading man parts in my mouth."

Worst gag ever. This "joke" wasn't funny 15 years ago, I don't see why it's funny now.

That's the point. The humor rarely (even never) comes from the actual line, but the line is the common thread that makes it a running gag.
