Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update Thursday 10/8

What did you guys think about this truncated SNL?

With the absence of any Palin material, I thought the debate sketch was weaker than previous weeks'.

Nice cameo by Bill Murray.

It was funny, but I thought for sure it was going to have Tina Fey. I didn't realize until the end that it was 'Weekend Update Thursday'

Usually Keenan Thompson characters are terrible, but the Fix It guy made me laugh. (I'm sure most people still thought he was terrible though) The McCain and Obama impressions were both good, just not very funny.

It WAS funny. Which means they are going to beat it death, then beat it some more, on SNL.

I've only watched the opening so far, the debate bit, but I loved it.

Yeah, I bet. It was funny, but only in a 45 second skit sort of way.

I thought it was pretty lame. No Fey No Sale.

I teach a class on Thursday nights, so I missed it.

Hopefully Hulu will have it in it's entirety.

I enjoyed it. Even Kenan's character.

I actually thought the weekend update jokes were sharper than normal - and I always love the "REALLY?!?!?!?" segments.

I wonder what they'll do this saturday. They used up all the good jokes. Oh wait, SNL is on a break, right?

Loved the joke about OJ - He didn't "OJ Breakup" with her, he just "regular broke up" with her.

IIRC, they're both on next week, so we'll see then.

They're bringing back cast members.

Tina Fey. Chris Parnell.

I mean, Tina Fey's been in more skits than Casey Wilson!

Kenan's "FIX IT!" guy was hilarious. The rest of the episode was pretty decent too. Maybe SNL should switch to a 30-minute format and focus on producing a solid half-hour of comedy instead of a mediocre 90 minutes.

It was as funny as usual. Which is to say, not very.

I liked that too, but not as much as last week's OJ joke: "A Nevada jury convicted OJ Simpson of robbery, kidnapping, and theft, but really murder."

My favorite part of the show.

"Yes that's true, now you
Shut up while I'm singing
About McCain's thirst for dog blood
Like a vampire but with dogs"

I loved the cat joke about the lady that spent all that money to save her cat's life:

"To show his gratitude, the cat made eye contact with her briefly."

I thought this was pretty good. Maybe SNL should shorten their regular offering to an hour. It seems like the 90 minutes really stretches the team.

Last night I was going to sleep with the 80's radio channel on the TV, and they played H&O "You Make My Dreams Come True" and I started laughing, thinking of this skit.
