The thread about Student Bodies was already posted, but apparently according to Movies Unlimited, a company (unknown right now, possibly Anchor Bay) is releasing a major slate of bare-bones, but as yet unavailable on DVD titles through Paramount.

Paramount has tons of great unreleased movies in their possession -- including Wings and The African Queen -- and this is what gets licensed out?

Student Bodies is the only one I've seen from that list.

THE SKULL is on my list. It's a fun Amicus horror film with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and it cries out to be finally seen in the original 2:35 to 1 ratio. The old panned and scanned EP tape Paramount issued can finally be retired.

The Skull is one of the few remaining on my must have on dvd list, im very excited for this.

You missed the Girl on the Bridge. Serial is a Martin Mull comedy that used to come on Comedy Central all the time

I've heard of about half of them.

Daniel (if it's the one I'm thinking of) is a Sidney Lumet film based on the E.L. Doctorow novel, The Book of Daniel, about the children of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg (I think two sons in real life were changed to a son and a daughter). It's a good film with a strong cast and I'd buy it.

Damn, when I saw THE BUSY BODY I got excited thinking they might also release THE SPIRIT IS WILLING. Ohhh well, maybe next time.

Most of these are genre films. I wonder if Anchor Bay got them. Seems like their thing, plus they are one of the few who would have the pocketbook to wing such a deal.

I'm sure when Paramount decided to put blocks of their back catalogue up for licensing, Criterion cherry picked all the good stuff. Which is fine! The Furies looks great!

Good stuff in there. If true, it's the best list of titles I've seen so far this year. I counted at least 10 I'd buy. Most interest (haven't seen, based on descriptions): ZPG, Rhubarb, The Skull. And of the one's I've seen: The One and Only, Mandingo, Possession of Joel Delaney.

So many more great titles languishing in the Paramount vaults.... Phase IV (1974) at the top of the list. WHEN???

Great news about the Paul Hogan comedy Almost An Angel coming to DVD. You have to wonder why Paramount mildly shot themselves in the foot by not releasing this at all when all the Crocodile Dundee films hit DVD. Instead someone else will do it for them. Makes zero sense to me.
