Target DVD sales...TV Box sets...Full Screen Movies BEWARE

TV Box Sets:
$14.88 (I wait every year to buy my TV DVD Sets, have saved a ton of movie, but sometimes I have to wait another year for the latest season to come on sale.)
1. Monk Season 4
2. Family Guy 3-5 maybe more (Season 1&2 combined set is $19.00)
3. Gilmore Girls (all seasons)
4. Veronica Mars Season 1-2
5. Seinfield 1-> (Do not remember how many seasons)
6. 24
7. South Park
8. The Office
9. House 1-2
10. Rescue Me 1-2

******Full Screen movie Beware*********
Most of the $3.98 & $5.98 are "Full Screen". I had to return "Rent" last year after I saw that it was Full Screen. I pointed this out to several people today and they had not noticed that most were full screen.

1. Notebook, The Holiday and Ice Age 2 (maybe a few others but I did not notice) were Widescreen.

D'oh! Forgot to pick that one up. I picked up the first three at CC....

YMMV on Ice Age 2 (and probably the others). I stopped at two Targets and all copies of IA2 were FS.

Besides that, one Target had no copies of Blades of Glory and the other only had FS. (But they still had the sale tag hanging there for the WS just to mock me.)

Is Gilmore Girls Season 7 really $14.88?

No, just season 6 is $14.98.

And Family Guy 5 is NOT part of the sale. Neither is 24 1-4.

This thread is very misleading.

Only South Park Season 10 was $14.98. The rest are $19.

Thanks! Saved me a trip. I only need GG S7 yet.

Thank you. I was just about to run out the door to get Family Guy V5 and GG S7 for that price and I decided to check the board one last time. I would have been a very pissy boy had I got there to discover that they weren't on sale.

Other widescreen movies they had on sale were Elf, Batman Begins, & Flicka.

It's pretty lame that most of the cheap doorbuster titles at target are fullscreen. I think Click may have been the only one out of the 3.00 ones. What's up with that?

Maybe people have started to catch on that they need to be buying widescreen because duh, their next tv (that they may have bought this morning) is going to be more widescreen oriented! Maybe that's why the studios are trying to get rid of these fullscreen copies?

300 2 disc was $3.98 for the widescreen version. Probably the best deal on the $3.98 titles.

At my local Target all the Gilmore Girls were $14.88. Season 1 wasn't priced as such, but when I checked the price it rang up as $14.88.
Also all the Wedding Crashers and Notebook DVD's for $3.98 had free movie cash to see the Golden Compass. Which considering movie tickets are over $5 that's a pretty good deal if you plan on seeing the film.
Everyone is right in that way too many of the movies were only fullscreen.

I dunno, I heard another J6P at Circuit City this morning telling his wife and/or mom when she asked him which version of the movie to buy that "full screen are the ones you want, the widescreens have those black bars on them."

Yeah, there were still people like that at Target this morning. A lot of people were also just grabbing titles, not even looking or caring what format they were.

There must have been some Targets running their own specials them this morning. That's the second mention of $14.88 I've seen.

Not true. I can't vouch for all of them, but I bought S1 and S2 today for 14.98 at Target...

It was true at my Target. S10 was the only one I saw for $14.98. The rest were $19.98 I think.

Blood Diamond was Full Screen only. I heard somebody say "Oooooh Blood Diamond for $3.98. That was a good movie!!". It was too noisy and crowded to explain to her the difference so I grabbed 300 and Batman Begins and stood in line.

Here is a jpg with the picture of the ad for today and tomorrow:

My Target had most of all the season sets for GG and Family Guy, maybe the last season was another price - that I did not check

Hope this helps...

gilmore girls s1-4 are on sale until 11/26 for 14.88. season 6 is on sale today/tomorrow for 14.98. season 5 and 7 are regular priced. i think amazon has 1-6 for 14.99, so that's a way to get them all for the same price. one of the customers in front of me actually brought up s1-6, season 5 scanned at the regular price and she asked, "aren't all of them on sale?" dunno if she was playing dumb to try and get the sale price on 5 even though it's not. the cashier was a bit perplexed since all the other seasons scanned at $15. she tried calling the electronics dept but no one answered, so the cashier overrode it. lucky. i was almost thinking of trying that myself except replacing season 7 for 5... but nah. didn't wanna waste my time. probably wouldn't have been as lucky.

Sigh... Those morons probably won't even notice anything strange when they eventually buy a widescreen tv and their tv automatically stretches their fullscreen movies wide.

I had to yell at my girlfriend to put a few movies back because they were full screen only. Kind of sucked, as we were going to get Wedding Crashers and Devil Wears Prada.

Good point about the Golden Compass thing. I thought about it too and thought it would be a good pick up for people that want to see the movie and want a discount. The ticket inside is good for up to 10.50 it says.
