CHUD.com's 50 Biggest Disappointments

Anyone else been reading this? Pretty cool feature they have, like when they did the "100 movies that deserve more love".

Here's part of the list:

Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Ultraviolet
New York, New York
Billy Bathgate
Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Bonfire of the Vanities
Exorcist: Dominion
The Black Hole
Harlem Nights
The Last Castle

I think Alien 3 would be on there and not Alien Resurrection.

Unless 3 gets ranked higher. But 3 killed any hope for Resurrection.

I wasn't disappointed in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Cabin Fever was disappointing? Some relatively unknown director's first movie...generally well-received for a horror debut. Hostel I can understand. House of 1000 Corpses makes some sense considering it was in limbo for so long and was supposed to be this shock extravaganza.

Episode I is a lock, but I'm not so sure about II. For one thing, they may argue that their expectations were already lowered by Episode I. Second, they may want to spread the wealth and give the #2 slot to something else.

I'm not sure why Me, Myself and Irene is on the list. I certainly wasn't looking forward to it. Then again, maybe I'm biased because I hated There's Something About Mary, and thus wasn't expecting something from the Farrelly Brothers to be good at that point.

I read some of the reviews and he defends himself well. I found his comments on World Trade Center and Wag the Dog to be especially perceptive. I can't really disagree with any of the films he lists that I have seen and I give him credit for not always going after much-maligned films with well-worn "KICK ME" signs on their backs (although he does go after a few).

Yeah, I loved Cabin Fever. I don't recall that ultra low-budget film from a then no-name Eli Roth as being hyped as the next great thing.

Where the hell is Godzilla? That was mega-hyped in 1998 and had the potential to be a kick-ass action/adventure, but it completely fell apart. And further proved that Roland Emmerich is a no-talent hack.

Godzilla 98 is up there. Independence Day should be there too.

Ah, I see it now. It should be there. I remember how let down I was after I came out of the theater.

Go figure, perhaps because it was directed by John Frankenheimer.

Cabin Fever and Dracula don't deserve to be on that list.

They could pretty much put every sequel ever made up there. The Godfather Part 3, Temple of Doom, every sequel that never lived up to its predecesser(sp?)

I don't agree with Blade Trinity I thought it was better than the 2nd. I also don't agree with Full Frontal. I enjoyed it.

Many don't belong on that list.
"From Hell" I've always thoroughly enjoyed.

While Blade Trinity had a tad more interesting plot idea, it was easily the most poorly made movie I've ever seen in theaters.

As I saw Blade: Trinity in theaters and thought it was a piece of shit, I would like to bring to the table Next, I Robot, The Stepford Wives, or Men In Black II as big budgeted films that were even more poorly made.

Dogma is probably the only Kevin Smith movie I can watch. I've seen all of his movies and I really don't understand the cult following.

Dogma.. heavy handed?

get out of here, no film featuring the battle between Selma "Doesn't strip enough" Hayek and A giant Shit Monster can be too heavy handed...

I am a HUGE fan of Hook and I love easily 5 more of these flicks.

CHUD has always caused me great brain aches and made me feel like a jerk for liking mindless fun stuff (ask me to defend X3 and you will never hear the end of it) but i go back... battered geek syndrome I guess
