Punk Recommendations?

I was more of a metal kid during high school in the 80's but I found some of my old Punk records and thought I'd give the genre another try. What I have:

The Misfits - Most records
Black Flag - Most records
Bad Brains - Bad Brains & Rock for Light
Dead Milkmen - Beelzebubba

Anything else I should give a listen too?

To me, these are indispensible:

Wire - Pink Flag
Gang of Four - Entertainment
Undertones - Undertones
Ramones - First four albums
Replacements - Let It Be & Tim (I wouldn't call this punk, but it fits at times)
Social Distortion - Mommy's Little Monster

There's more! I'll let others fill in.

My top eleven punk bands of all time:

11. The Descendents (get Milo Goes to College)
10. Minor Threat (get the Complete Discography disc)
9. Black Flag (get Damaged)
8. Dead Kennedys (get Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables)
7. Pistols (obvious)
6. Bad Brains (I against I and Rock for Light)
5. Husker Du (Zen Arcade, New Day Rising and Flip your Wig are all essential)
4. X (First four albums and the live one)
3. Clash (everything except parts of Sandinista)
2. Stooges (first three albums)
1. Ramones (first five albums)

The Minutemen are another favorite, but I dont really see them as punk sounding. Double Nickels is one of my favorite albums of all time.

Lots of other bands (random listing: DagNasty, X-Ray Spex, Dead Boys, Germs, Exploited, GBH, Bad Religon, UK Subs, Youth of Today, Crass, Circle Jerks, Social Distortion, Agnostic Front, Unsane, Gorilla Biscuits etc) are also worth hearing.

Lots of good stuff mentioned, my top 3 would be Dead Kennedys, The Clash, and of course the Sex Pistols are way at the top of the heap. I recently watched "The Filth and The Fury", and also the DVD about them in the "Classic Albums" series. Fascinating stuff.

Oh man, I could go on for days with punk bands. Depends what kind of stuff you want, but I'll just list a lot of my favorites.

The Clash, Ramones, Operation Ivy, Minor Threat, Screeching Weasel, Bad Religion, No Use for a Name, NOFX, Rancid, The Vandals, Lagwagon, Good Riddance, Propaghandi, Ten Foot Pole, Ignite, Pennywise, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Rise Against, Bouncing Souls, Circle Jerks, Diesel Boy, Dropkick Murphy's, Goldfinger, Jughead's Revenge, Longfellow, Millencolin, Pulley, Snuff, SNFU

That should keep you busy for about 5 years.

Not much to add here, most of it has been covered... But, three that I didn't see mentioned... Fear, DRI and MDC. Fear "The Record", Millions of Damn Christians "This Blood's for You" and "Dirty Rotten" / "Dealing With It" by DRI are my favorites from that bunch. On DRI they crossed over from hardcore to thrash in 1987 so no need to go farther than that if you're only interested in punk/hardcore. But, being a metal kid, you might dig it.

Awsome guys, thanks so much. As I mentioned, I found my old punk albums, but I didn't list the ones I had on CD. Those would be the Ramones, the Clash, and the Sex Pistols.

There's a lot of good stuff here. I hadn't thought of the Buzzcocks in years. I dug "What Do I Get?". And of course Fugazi's 13 songs!

Thanks again, I've got some exploring to do.

One band I didn't see mentioned is the Swingin' Utters. They are a little inconsistent but I'd recommend these albums to start with:

A Juvenille Product of the Working Class
Swingin Utters

I wholeheartedly second the recommendation of Bad Religion, they've been on nonstop rotation in my car for weeks. Descendents, Circle Jerks, X, Crime, the Dwarves (up to Are Young And Good Looking), the Criminals were underrated, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, the Dickies, Dead Boys, I could go on for days...
