Need some advice. This seems fishy.
My fiance has been "discovered" by a small local record label here in Georgia. The producer put her with a band and they are working on songs now. Recently, the producer told my fiance that he had a friend who works for Sony that was interested in her for a side project. He said this guy has musicians and songwriters, and all they would need her to do is sing the songs. We were both very excited about it, until recently that is. Her family and I wanted to make sure that she wasn't going to get screwed over, or tricked into a bad contract, so we agreed that her dad (who is one of the two smartest people I know) and I would go with her to the audition at Sony. Well, today she talked to the guy from sony (whom we only know as "Rod") on the phone and when she mentioned that her dad would be coming with her, the guy got really uncomfortable, and said that he was a very private person and that he didn't want anyone coming with her. He then asked if he could come to her work and she could sing for him there. So he drove to where she works, and he and a friend of his talked with her. She ended up singing for them and they both agreed that they wanted her.
She came home tonight and told me about this, and I thought it was really weird that he didn't want any family coming with her. The place where she would be going has been described as a "warehouse, but it's not, it just looks like one". This just made me more uncomfortable. So I told her that we need to research this guy and make sure he really works for Sony. So she called the producer of the record label (the guy who refered the Sony guy, who by the way said he has known this guy for a long time) and asked what "Rod's" last name is. The producer, who claims to have known Rod for years, said that he didn't know the guys last name. So she sent a text message to "Rod" asking him what his last name is, but he wouldn't give it. She asked Rod for the address to the place where she was to go (because I wanted to see if they'd give the address) they tried to describe where the place was without giving an actual address. So my fiance has now expressed her uncomfortableness (is that a word?) to the producer of the record label, and I guess he told Rod, because she just got a text message about 5 mins ago from Rod saying that if she's uncomfortable, then to forget it.
I think this is just a very fishy situation, my fiance is begining to agree with me, but is also a little apprehensive about giving it up because if it is real she doesn't want to lose this chance. So I figured I would do research on the net, but without "Rod's" last name, i really can't find out if he works for Sony.
Any advice would be VERY much appreciated.

To be honest, it sounds like a plot to kidnap / rape an innocent woman to me. Your suspicions are very accurate. I'd imagine most record producers would carry business cards and hand them out like candy, not keep their last name a secret. Also, if her singing to them at her work was an acceptable audition, why need the "studio" (ie; warehouse) at all? Why not just stop by the (slightly less sleazy) guy's studio that she has been recording at?
I sure as hell wouldn't let my girlfriend go through with this, unless I wanted her gone. Well, I don't even have a girl. I'm more of the "Lure them into uncomfortalbe situations" type, so that's how I know this is all horribly wrong.

That whole situation just screams trouble!
Legit people aren't afraid to give out information about themselves or their business. If someone is being evasive, or trying to hide something about themselves, chances are they're most often up to no good. DO NOT trust these people! I know it sounds like a good deal, but that's the lure. Your finance, and you, are better off backing out of this now. ALWAYS trust your gut instinct. If it feels bad, you're probably right in assuming that it is.

Reminds me of a serial killer in California who was a photographer. He would take the ladies out for a shoot, then kill and rape them.
By the way, "fiance" is a man who is engaged to be married. "Fiancee" is the word you want.

Good luck with the situation.
Keep your fiancee safe. Just walk away from those shady people altogether. Letting the police know about it would be a great idea too.
