I like the movie and it's definitely in need of a new transfer, but an "extended edition"? Can't anyone in Hollywood just leave their old movies well enough alone?

No commentary?
I may skip this. I like the movie, but not enough to double-dip.

I totally agree with you. I think it´s a sick trend with all these EE versions.

An extended version does not necessarily make a movie any better. Most often it makes it worse. However, the majority of the consumers thinks it will and the studios know this. Furthermore, it´s a nice marketing device to lure customers to keep buying the same titles over and over again.

Great to see it getting attention, but I'm with Josh Z, do you really have to go back and do an extended cut for this?

Makes me wonder if the extended edition was approved by the director.

I hope the theatrical cut is an option as well.

Especially annoying since Annette Boning has already done a commentary for Bugsy... guess they're saving that for the HD version?

Latest "BAD" news:

We just got word from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that the studio is delaying the release of Bugsy: Extended Cut until further notice. The release was originally scheduled for release on October 3, but has now been postponed indefinitely.

Perhaps they were planning a simultaneous BD release, but now they're delaying it due to the complaints about currently available BD titles. They could be waiting for BD-50.

Doubtful.

1) It's never been rumored or even hinted at.

2) Thus far, they're not doing any extended editions or directors cuts on the HD formats.

Yeah, I stole it from the computer game Leisure Suit Larry 7. LSL7 had a few other good ones like Dewmi Moore and Wydoncha & Nailme Judd.

Amazon still has this coming out 10/03... they're usually one of the more reliable ones.

The way the new announcement is worded ("the set will include 13 minutes of additional footage") isn't clear whether it's actually integrated into the movie or in a deleted scenes section. It's also not titled "Bugsy Extended Edition" like the last announcement. Maybe Sony went back to the original cut?
