I'm sure it will be released closer to 2008 anyway.

Here's hoping it's better than Halo 2.

Boy was that a letdown.

zzzzzzzzzzzz.....What a lackluster trailer. The music was good, that was about it.

Thanks for sharing though.

The halo 2 teaser was way better. And if this is the way the world ends does that mean they're going to stop after halo 3?

I would hope it could tie into the Movie but if not I can wait for it.

I agree 2007 is very vague but at least they did not give it a firm date that could be delayed and make people mad.

Bungie announces Halo 3, the third and final game in the Halo Trilogy. Halo 3 will be released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in 2007.

Nice to see the Assault Rifle again.

From the bungie site:

Bungie announces Halo 3, the third and final game in the Halo Trilogy. Halo 3 will be released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in 2007

Hope it's not the final one.

Edit: DOH!

WOW! Tough crowd! I thought the Halo 3 trailer killed everything in it's past, except for Gears of Wars. Both Gears of War and Halo 3 were 100% realtime. Bungie confirms it on their website, and even gave a demonstration to a select few reporters after the conference. It's funny how many were down on the 360 based on rushed launch games and ports.

Epic and awe-inspiring is the best way I can describe Halo 3.

I dug it! Does anyone think that with the way Cortana was talking, Gravemind somehow is controlling her? What she said sounded alot like stuff Gravemind said in Halo 2. Also, is that big thing that the convenant are going to the Ark? I know it was supposed to be on Earth so logic says that's what it is. It looked like it was about to fire up and make the other Halos go off.
either way count me in as ecstatic that this is finally officially announced. It'll be a long wait but I'm sure it'll be worth it!
Oh, and what would something Halo related be without the music! That series has some of the best game music ever and this trailer is a great example.

As much money as Halo brings in for both Bungie in sales and MS in console sales, I HIGHLY doubt this will be the last one.

Last one in this story arc, maybe, but last of the franchise? No chance in hell.

How involved is the story in this game? Do you need to have played Halo 1/2 or both to really get into 3? Or is it too early to know this?

It'll be enjoyable regardless, but Halo 2 ends with a cliffhanger, and I'm sure that's where Halo 3 will start.

So Halo 2, yeah you may want to. Halo 1, not so much (though it's a superior game).

While it's probably too early to tell, you've got at least 1.5 years until this is released which gives you plenty of time to play Halo and Halo 2

No doubt the games aren't going to stop. Especially when you consider there's a movie coming probably simultaneously with Halo 3.

Once Halo 3 is released, the Halo Trilogy will be about as finished as Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse was after Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. . .

Yeah, now that I think about it, isn't Halo named because of the Planet(s)? I never finished the second one...

The Halo Trilogy will come to an end, but not "The Chronicles of Master Chief" or whatever...

Thanks. I guess I'll try to pick up that Halo 3pack cheap somewhere. Of course it will probably make me motion sick!

Oh my gawd! Some of you guys are so hard to please. It's just a teazer. What the hell did you expect? It's like some of you are writing off the game based on this one early teazer.

BTW, I HATE quicktime...is there way to enlarge that movie?

Bungie has a history of ending popular series and a history of making trilogies.

After Marathon 3, everyone said they'd be crazy not to make another one. They didn't and started making new IPs.

They do what they want as a dev and I think this will be the last game. Although, all of Bungies games are set in the same universe, so I wouldn't be surprised to see other characters or species pop up in future IPs.

I'm surprised we got anything at all, so I will take this as a nice surprise and then promptly forget about Halo for another year.

With MS owning Bungie now, don't you think there will be pressure to keep the franchise alive? I never heard of Marathon, so I'm not sure how big of a franchise it was, but Halo is surely bigger. It's one of the top IP's around.

Maybe they will take a break between Halo's to start a new IP, like id does with Quake and Doom?
