Adventures of Superboy tv show coming to dvd!...
According to www.tvshowsondvd.com the late 80's-early 90's tv show "Adventures of Superboy" is coming to dvd. While they don't have a release date. They do mention that the original cast from the 1st season got together to do a commentary.

Glad to see it finally being released on some video format. Granted, it was a crappy show (though I'll give anything having to do with SUPERMAN a try...), but Lana Lang was cute and the original actor who played Clark was convincing.
Jeebus, with the SUPERMAN II special edition disc, SUPERMAN RETURNS and now this it's a good time to be a slobbering comic book fanboy!

too bad they are only releasing the first season, as the show got better in the last 3 seasons, as the first ones tried too hard, while the last three went straight to the action. Still, a big Stacy Haiduk fan (she is a much prettier red headed Maggie Gyllennhaal type, with huge breasts) and with this and SEAQUEST, it's nice to see her on my TV once again.

Well, Salamander, if Season 1 sells well, there's no reason they won't continue to put out the rest of the seasons.
Based on the abso-friggin'-lutely HUGE number of people who have read that news post today, I can imagine some good numbers for that DVD release.

No, it was first-run syndication, like Star Trek: The Next Generation was. So your local stations may not have picked it up. Or, if they did, it's possible they showed it at 2 in the morning or something like that.

The show never repeated after its first syndicated run. Their was a big rights battle between Warner, Viacom and the Salkinds. So after its run it was shelved.
On a side note. I just got an email back from Gerard Christopher. He was Superboy for seasons 2-4. He said he heard of the release...but, hasn't been contacted yet about doing anything for future releases. So hopefully, it will sell well enough to get future releases.
For those who haven't seen it. Remember that season 1 was the weakest of the seasons. It does get better. Especially a later 2 part episode called "A Road Not Taken".

Now if they will just get around to other 80'S-90'S syndicated classics like SUPER FORCE, TARZAN, CROSSBOW, NIGHT-MAN, etc. we can all be in Heroic Heaven!

I loved this show as a kid. While Gerard was excellent, I actually preferred John Haymes Newton in Season 1 - especially his Clark. Nothing against Christopher though, just personal preference. I will pick up this first season (and the rest of them as well) on release day. Cannot wait for this series.
