Unusual problem! TV keeps turning on by itself?

I own a Phillips Flat Screen TV, and just yesterday hooked up a Sony HDD x -something - DVD recorder to the tv Everything seems to be working fine!

EXCEPT - my TV keeps turning on without me having pushed any button. It just turns on. And without any sound, either. I woke up this night, and the TV was running - no sound. I came home this afternoon a few minutes ago, and the TV was running- no sound.

This is very weird! How do I fix it??

Move away since your home is obviously built over an old graveyard/indian burial ground.

Cover up the remote sensor to see if it's some stray remote signal affecting your TV.

Do you put it into stand by mode from remote or do you turn it off fromt the tv itself ?

Maybe your getting a rogue signal from a neighbour or the cat is jumping on the remote control ?

Just unplug the tv and if its on when you come back then its time to move

Sounds like that commercial where the neighbor keeps changing the channel.

I have a neighbor who is into cb radios. He has one in his truck and a big setup in his house. When he is in his truck, coming down the road, the signal is so strong it will turn off another neighbor's electronics. All of them. If he is watching tv with the lights on or whatever, it will shut ithem all off. If everything is off it will turn it on. The guy even went to the FCC and got a petition started. Apparently for anything to be done there had to be at least 10 signatures. I think he got 1, his own. Very weird stuff.

If he really wants to tackle this guy, he should contact the local amateur radio club. They take a very dim view of CB'ers running illegal high-power amps. They also know how to collect the evidence to get the FCC interested. Heck, someone from the FCC may be a member.

But I guess you don't really care since you haven't signed the petition.

.....7 Days......

I figured this was the only movie parody not mentioned.

Did this problem only start after you hooked up the DVD recorder to your Phillips?
