Superb movie. The trailer is here.
The story is about four kids left to fend for themselves after their mother abandons them. It's told in an unsentimental fashion, and avoids most cliches.
Go watch it if it's playing in your city.

Ugh, the trailer is mostly some pictures with the guy saying you have to see this. It almost sounds like a "Home Alone" movie with 4 kids from what he says.
I will, however, check it out based on a "has seen" recommendation (thanks OP).

so far it's the best movie of 2005
although that isn't saying too much

A beautifully shot and moving portrait of familial love and responsibility. I'm not sure I've ever seen a movie that better captures the world through the eyes of a child. The performances are breathtakingly flawless; these kids aren't acting, they're being (Yûya Yagira, the 14-year-old Cannes Best Actor winner was well deserved). Never cloying or precious, and never settling for easy answers, the film fittingly glides by as an exploration rather than a narration. If only it were 30 minutes shorter, I might be using the M-word.
