Your favorite non-Disney, non-CG Animated film (1995+)
Continuing with my series of polls on animation, here's the latest. Which non-Disney, non-CG animated film is your favorite? I'm gonna take the top selections from this poll and my other two and make one great big honkin' one. Why for? Groin.
No, there's no Ghibli here. In fact, there's no anime to be found. I don't watch enough of it to isolate a best-of top 10 list... sorry.

Well, this thread is going to end up lopsided. Iron Giant is heavily favored on this forum. Probably win by a landslide. That is what I voted, Prince of Egypt would be a close second, followed by Chicken Run for a top 3.

James and the Giant Peach
for shame no Ghibli (let's all live a sheltered life and ignore internationally made animated feature length films - sounds kind of snobby to just center around American made movies. but hey, whatever)
- Spirited Away
- McDull Prince de la Bun
- Oseam

Does anyone want to create a Best Japanese animated film since 1995? If so, I'll incorporate the results into my master poll (Best Overall Animated Film Since 1995).

I have yet to see Whisper of My Heart, which is currently in my Nicheflix queue of DVD's. Although I have already seen the sequel: The Cat Returns (don't ask..?.. Nicheflix had the sequel for rental before they acquired the first film).
This afternoon/evening I have lined up a video screening of My Neighbors the Yamadas - which I can't wait to see!

Having only seen it and the South Park movie, I'll have to go with Chicken Run.

Iron Giant definately, followed closely by Prince of Egypt and then Titan AE and Anastasia.
Looking at that list and the post-Lion King Disney list I really did enjoy those Disney movies more than these in general. Despite their decline.

From that list, I went with Prince Of Egypt.
Out of curiosity, why the post 1995? Are the other years covered in the other polls?
Also . . . you wanna put the links to the other polls in your first post so we can check 'em out too?

In response to Question A: My first poll was Favorite CG-Animated Film, which I conducted a little over a month ago. While running that poll, I realized that the earliest film in that list (Toy Story) came out in 1995... which, oddly enough, was the year after the last film in Disney's so-called "Second Golden Age" was released (The Lion King).
It got me thinking to myself, what do people consider the best Disney animated film since Lion King, which resulted in the Favorite Disney Animated Film Since Lion King poll.
Which led into this poll!
Now if someone wants to run a Best Japanese Animated Film since 1995 poll, we can grab the top two or three from each and have one massive run-off poll: Best Animated Film Since 1995. Why 95 again? Post Lion King. Plus we also have ten years to analyze (1995 - 2004), which have been pretty monumental for animation (the "death" of traditional animation, Disney's fall from preeminence, the emergence of Pixar as the leading animation powerhouse, the upstart competition from Dreamworks, and also Jeff Schwartz).

This poll is really lopsided and not well thought out.
All of the movies that you have listed (with the exception of Chicken Run, which had very limited CG work) relied heavily on CG for the most part of the film.
South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut (1999) - Used Maya because of the ease of use in sliders for expressions and movement.
The Iron Giant (1999) - The big guy was completely CG!
Titan A.E. (2000) - CG backgrounds, vehicles, and props... only the characters were hand drawn.
Prince of Egypt (1998) - Dreamworks' uses CG for backgrounds and props to get the right perspective and motion and effects for all of their supposedly 2D films.
Anastasia (1996) - The music box, the vehicles, the sets and backgrounds... am I missing something?
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) - Dreamworks... see above.
The Road to El Dorado (2000) - Dreamworks... see above.
Sinbad (2003) - Dreamworks... see above.
I choose to abstain from voting.

I never said that these films have NO CGI whatsoever. They are, for the most part, considered to be "traditionally animated". Heck, every Disney animated film since "The Great Mouse Detective" has used CG to some degree (some more than others.) I didn't say they were COMPLETELY 100% FREE OF COMPUTER GENERATED ANIMATION anywhere in the poll.
Just because the Iron Giant character is computer animated does not mean the movie is a CG-Animated film. I guess that invalidates all the cel animation that permeates, oh I dunno, pretty much every frame of the film.
Abstain if you want. But think of the children.
