'Grounded' Ends Life at WB Network

After a five-year run on two networks, "Grounded for Life" is being grounded forever.

The WB Network has pulled the plug on the comedy by opting not to pick up more episodes of the show beyond the 13 ordered in May. The series finale of the family sitcom starring Donal Logue is expected to air early next year.

At the end of its run, "Grounded" will have 91 episodes in the can, half of them produced by Carsey-Werner for the WB and half of them for Fox, where it premiered in 2001. It is slated to begin its off-network run on cable's ABC Family next year.

"Grounded" is the second casualty from the WB's Friday-night lineup this season following the demise of "Commando Nanny," which never made it to the air. Remaining Friday comedies "Reba" and "What I Like About You" will be joined by "Shacking Up" in midseason.

That sucks. This was one of very few traditional sitcoms that I genuinely enjoyed watching. While so many shows are just clones of one another and heavily rely on formula laughs, Grounded for Life found its comedy in many ways. Kudos to The Frog for at least trying to save it and giving it a second home. I'm really surprised it lasted this long, so I can't get too angry that it's finally leaving, but I will miss it.

I'm also surprised it lasted this long. Wow, I guess the actor who played Henry was like the rat bailing from the ship right before it sinks. Well it was fun while it lasted. I hope they decide to wrap it up with Claudia having the baby and at least with maybe Walt (the grandfather) and Henry returning for the last episode.

Their ratings have been in the crapper for so long. I've watched from the beginning, and I gotta say that this season hasn't been up to par with previous seasons. But I'll still be sad when it goes off the air.

I honestly haven't been able to watch it much since going to the WB ( I loved when Fox paired it with Titus, that was an hour of gold IMHO)

Here's hoping for some quick and inexpensive DVDs.

I never could watch this show consistently because I could never remember when it was on. I did watch it whenever I could though.

Claudia is such a hottie.

Yeah, I've been watching Ground for Life since it's premiere on FOX. I'm not a big sitcom fan but I watched this one a lot and it is consistently great. There's just something about Megyn Price (Claudia) that I find super hot too.

I did not know this was still on until earlier this year, and I just never seemed to find it. Maybe I will catch the last season.

On a side note, what happened to the Titus show? I do not recall any reason for it's cancelation.

I hope they keep What I Like About You around for a while, or WB will suck on Friday nights.

Sorry to see it go, but a five year run is damn good. Now if we can just get season sets, that would be awesome. I know the WB ratings were not stellar, but it was on Friday, for crying out loud, and also, I am sure the show has fans from the Fox days that didn't follow it to WB.

I am just surprised they aren't giving this a full 26 episode run for it's last season. What else have they got to put on? History has proven their midseason replacements for Friday night are nothing to get excited about.

First Maybe It's Me, and now this. WB is getting rid of my favorite Friday night shows.

I watched this in the early days, but thought it "jumped the shark" when Walt left and they bought the bar.

Well...i know it means nothing ..but WB lost a half a viewer...because this was one of two shows I watched. I usually record the eps since they moved to friday. Oh well. ..nice long run. Ditto for the hotness of Claudia.
