Seinfeld past season 3?

Hi - has there been any word on when seasons 4 and beyond would be released? Will it be another year? or will they do it every few months like they did with Friends?

No definitive word as far as I know, but an article in USA Today about the sets made it sound like the rest would be released over a period of a couple of years.

Patience is a virtue. They haven't even released the first set yet.

I could handle a 2 season per year release schedule.

Then again, this is Columbia/TriStar we're talking about. They may decide to switch to "Best of" sets at any time (as they seem to have with The Larry Sanders Show and Mad About You!)

My guess is they will follow a six-month release schedule for each season.

I read that the other day about Mad About You. That sucks. It isn't like they spent a ton of money remastering them. They just threw as many eps. on a disc possible.

Of course they would be. We only have till 3 officially, so why would they be able to invent the others?

"Region free" is always a hint for major releases like this.

I remember hearing that they would do two sets a year at Christmas time (like this year).

I remember reading it, but it might have just been speculation. I don't believe that anything offical has been said.

If these first two sell as well as they are supposed to, then we'll probably have season 4 out in April or May.

Larry Sanders and Mad About You weren't exactly high priority shows for DVD. And obviously they didn't sell that well if they switched to 'best of'. Now let's think realistically on this one... Seinfeld is the number one most requested TV show for DVD probably ever. Seinfeld is a gold mine in production for DVD. There's no way they wouldn't finish off this series.

Seinfeld is requested now. If it takes several years to get through the seasons, the demand may drop off considerably (plus, there is a big difference between asking for something and actually buying it. Who knows what the sales numbers will be. I would expect them to be high, but I've also been surprised by the number of people I've talked to who say they aren't interested, mostly because they feel the show is on all the time).

Not to mention that the expectations that Columbia/Tri-Star has will determine whether they think the sets are selling well. For all we know, C/TS has set their sales expectations unrealitically high since it was a very popular show.
