Anybody seen Elephant? *MAJOR SPOILERS*

I just have one question. Why did the main guy kill his partner in crime? I really enjoyed the movie. It was slow paced, on purpose I know, but very engaging. The end definitely bugged me when he shot his partner though. There was no pretense for this. Or did I miss something?

You should try doing a search, there's been quite a few threads about Elephant that went quite in depth.

Here's one. It's not very good, but I started it and I like seeing my name.

All I could find in the search was who everyone thought actually shot him, which was pretty obvious to me. I just want to know why? Oh well.

There really isn't supposed to be a reason, like 99% of everything else in the movie. MY take is that the darker haired kid just figured "Why not?" and shot his friend since by that point, he was just another life to take.

Maybe he regretted all those homosexual feelings that he acted upon before the killing spree.

That was my impression.
