MP Meaning of Life 2 Disc (Fixed) - In Stores?

I've seen recently that the MP Meaning of Life is selling on alot of the stores for less than $10. If I buy this, do I need to worry about the problem that was on disc 1 when it was released? Is there a code number I should look for?

thanks

i just got mine from ddd from their 20% sale, and it is still the uncorrected first pressing. i had to send mine in to universal to get the new version. the only way to tell is to open it up and check disc 1 for the "V2" printed at the very end of the copyright line (artwork side).

...and even if it has the V2, it can still be faulty...Universal is sending replacements for the replacements

I searched and I didn't find anything on the original thread on what the problem was. What was the problem? Sorry I'm a little late on this. I bought the DVD for $9.99 and I am just wondering.

MoL had a mastering issue that caused it to look jumpy on progressive scan enabled setups.

I believe the corrected copies canbe found on the shelves next to the corrected copies of Back To The Future.....in fantasy land.

I'm sorry I have to ask this but, what were the problems with Back to the Future? Are they the same problems as Meaning of Life?

BTTF had problems with mis-framing of certain scenes in the widescreen versions of Part 2 and Part 3. Universal sent out replacements to those who asked for one and sent in their older versions of discs 2 & 3.

I got it through the DDD 20% sale and got the corrected version (with October file dates), I'd bet that it's a crapshoot.

I was really looking forward to this release, but Uni really screwed the dead parrot on this one. I have zero desire to dick around with 1-800 numbers, self-addressed mailers, carrier pigeons or whatever. Even if it costs less than nine bucks.

Until a clearly marked, just-buy-the-thing-and-watch it version finds its way to store shelves, I’ll just pay attention to the rest of my “to buy” list.

I certainly hope that those responsible have been sacked
