Good news/Bad news for the next MST3K disc

From the MST3K news page I frequant:

RHINO ANNOUNCES NEW DVD SET
On August 31, Rhino Home Video will release a new 2-DVD set it is calling MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 - THE ESSENTIALS. It will contain two episodes that scored very high on the poll of fans we took several years ago: Episode 321- SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS (YIPPIE) and episode 424- "MANOS"-THE HANDS OF FATE (BOO!).

The set will have a suggested retail price of $24.95.

We have no information yet about any extras that may be included on the set. When we get more info, we will pass it along immediately, of course.

Our sources indicate that more sets will follow with more titles that have not been previously available, from both the Comedy Central and Sci-Fi Channel eras.
While I'm glad about Santa Claus, I'm vexed by the "Manos" re-release. Oh well, that means I can clear up my shelf space by one disc, I guess.

My storage space is getting severly limited, so this is a mixed blessing to me. MST3K's "Santa Claus..." is a Christmas staple for me. Thanks for the info!

Just so we're clear, there were TWO classic MST3k Santa Claus movies, and SCCTM is the less-bizzare one, by far.

Wake me when "Santa Claus," in which the villain is, I believe, the Devil, arrives on DVD.

CS

Is that the one with a drunk Santa stuck on a beach somewhere and the Easter Bunny in a fire truck comes and saves him?

People who have already bought 'Manos' -- ie, almost all fans, since it's a really popular episode ... and, surely, part of their target audience in these releases is completists -- have to buy it again, and the market's gonna be shot for re-selling them because everybody's gonna want to get rid of their Manos disc.

I wish it was 'Mitchell' or 'I Accuse My Parents', since I don't have either of those.

I dont have Manos yet so its not a problem for me. I wish they would have included both Santa Clause movies though.

Forum rules don't allow you to put WTF in thread titles, so we should probably stick with this (more descriptive) one.

Just a fantasy here, but how cool would it be to get full season sets!!!
Too bad there are so many rights issues.

Now, is Rhino planing to revisit all the titles released on DVD and release them in these 2 packs under the "Essentials" title or is this just an isolated release?

I'd love to see The Incredible Melting Man MSTK3 version... I'll have to hold on to my German release of Incredible Melting Man until then.
