Amazon removing information from web site?
Has anyone else noticed that Amazon has removed descriptive information from their web site for DVD products? They used to say if a DVD was letterboxed or anamorphic and they would list the special features on the DVD. I don't see any of that information any more. Does anyone know why?

Yeah I noticed the same thing late last night and sent their CS department an email. Got the following response this morning:
Not really very helpful.

You mean the Product Details section that says:
* Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, See more
* Director: Sofia Coppola
* Encoding: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only. This DVD will probably NOT be viewable in other countries. Read more about DVD formats.)
* Format: Color, Widescreen, Dolby
* Rated: Not for sale to persons under age 18.
* Studio: Universal Studios
* DVD Release Date: February 3, 2004
* From IMDb: Quotes & Trivia
* ASIN: B00005JMJ4
* Other Formats: VHS, DVD, Theatrical
* Average Customer Review: Based on 1088 reviews. Write a review.
* Amazon.com Sales Rank (DVD): 15
I don't remember there ever being a section listing all of the special features of the disc.

No the "click here for Technical details" stuff USED to show whether the disc was anamorphic or not and what the soundtracks / subtitle options were along with all the bonus features that were on a disc... now it seems to be MIA

It also appears Amazon removed the imdb links to films from their website. I frequently used those links to get more information about a film that interested me on DVD. Now I have to go directly to the imdb site first to search for the title.

At the end of the Product Details section there is a line that says "Click here for more technical details about this edition...".
At the bottom of the next screen there is a "Suggestion Box" section in blue where you can report missing or incorrect information on the page. I have been clicking the "Product information is missing important details" box and noting that the DVD special features are missing. Perhaps if enough people do that they will return as swiftly as they disappeared.

Looks like Amazon is back to putting the information on many of their DVDs again. Even the imdb links are back. Probably will never get an explanation to what happened but hopefully that's the end of it.
