favortie song that is performed in a movie (or during the credits)

in other words, the song has to be sung, but it does not have to be in a musical.
"singin in the rain"
"unka f***a" south park blu
"cell block tengo" chicago
one day i'll fly away" moulin rouge
"hard knock life" austin powers in goldmember

Shape of My Heart, by Sting: featured in Leon (The Professional). I thought it was the perfect way to end the film.

does the song have to be sung by the actors/characters?

If so, well Lost in translation did one hell of a fun job with bill murry doing Elvis Costello's "Peace, Love, And Understanding" in the karaoke room.

the song that introduced many to the wonderful world of the pixies indeed. then again, most still only know the pixies as that song at the end of fight club.

Cool topic. I'm sure there's gonna be a few guys who are just gonna list songs that appear in movies, but anyway:

"God's Trying to tell you something" The Color Purple
"Pinball Wizard" Tommy
"Twist and Shout" Ferris Bueller's Day Off
"He had it coming" Chicago
"Downtown (Skid Row)" Little Shop of Horrors
"Every Sperm is Sacred" The Meaning of Life

"Tiny Dancer" in Almost Famous, I think of that scene EVERY time I hear that song.

Change the World by Eric Clapton at the end of Phenomenon always give me chills.
Knights of the Round Table in MP & Holy Grail, Yello's Oh Yeah in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Life of Brian are also favs.

Now that I reread the original post, here goes....
" Tiny Dancer " in Almost Famous.
" Cell Block Tango " from Chicago.
" Cruisin' " from Duets.
Anything from Grease.

OK, some of you need to read the actual question.

Anyway, I find it hard not to go with "Tiny Dancer" from Almost Famous; however, "Make 'em Laugh" from Singin' in the Rain is just too classic.

I forgot about Putting on the Ritz. When I first saw Young Frankenstein, I missed the whole song (after Peter Boyle first sang his line ) due to convulsive laughter.

Definitely "Tiny Dancer" from Almost Famous.
"Wise Up" from Magnolia is also a personal favorite.

Shame on all of my 80's brethren who haven't mentioned "Don't You" by Simple Minds from The Breakfast Club.

Edit: I thought of another good one . . . "Mustang Sally" from The Commitments . . .

Wasn't "Don't You" played over the credit role?
