Catwoman goes from bad to worse (movie synopsis)

Picked this description up from Peter David's blog:

'Catwoman' is a feature film based on characters created by DC Comics. In this new adventure Patience Price, a mild mannered graphic artist, is murdered in order to keep her silent about an accidental discovery she made. An ancient myth is played out, when an Egyptian Mao cat, indebted to Patience for saving her it's own life, breathes life back into the young woman. Patience is reborn with an independent attitude, carefree behavior and the heightened senses of a cat. Now she must investigate the circumstances behind her murder and learn to accept both parts of herself.

Ummm... based on WHAT characters?

EDIT: I should note that this was from a response in Peter's blog, it was not posted by Peter himself.

However, I have heard similar statements elsewhere, and after seeing that godawful costume, it would not surprise me if this plot was the one that they pushed. The one thing I know is that according to the IMDB as well as this synopsis, Halle's character is named Patience Price, not Selena Kyle.

Let's hope that the people in power wisen up. I can't believe the backlash we've seen so far just on the costume.

I thought this was supposed to be a spin-off from Batman Returns. Guess not.

You know there really is a fanboy theory going 'round that this project is being done just to keep Jon Peters and the rest of the bean-counter morons on the WB lot away from the Nolan Batman project.

That's actually one of those that are just weird to enough to be true...

Regardless, that sounds like an interesting idea, but not for Catwoman. I hope the fanboy theory is true, regardless.

Why don't they just make the tagline "Comics Suck" and finish the job of pissing fans off?

Eh? Alright, hold on.

(1) The outfit does not look like 'Catwoman'.

(2) That is not the Selina Kyle story, for christ sakes.

(3) Catwoman is the anti-hero. Good god, how hard is that to understand?

This is worse than Sam Rami deciding that Peter Parker didn't need webshooters....and that, my friends was pretty damn bad!

From what I knew of this project, which admitedly is not much, it was never supposed to be a Selina Kyle project but instead a second wave Catwoman, kind of like Batman Beyond. So this really is much news to me, although it doesn't exactly sound promising.

Actually, I think Raimi's decision was great.

Think about how absolutely stupid the idea of web shooters were.

What law enforcement or military branch would not be interested in a chemical compound that restrained passively, has insane tensile strength, was extremely portable, could be dispensed from streams to blobs, and dissolved in about an hour?

Peter should have been a millionaire.

Actually, it was well-established (at that time) that Peter was a scientific genius (I believe even Reed Richards was amazed at how good he was).

Which of course also shows how stupid the idea was that he was always worrying about getting money for Aunt May's rent or her latest operation. A kid that smart could write his own ticket.
