Pioneer ELITE VSX-43TX receiver, any good?

Looking for a decent priced THX certified receiver. My ol JVC was just DD, no DTS and was 100W x 5. I need a new receiver with great sound, THX certification DTS DD and anything else for about $600. THe Pioneer Elite is being blown out now for around $500. Please let me know what you think. Thanks guys.

I've owned my Pioneer Elite 26TX for 3 years and have been very pleased.

Well i cant seem to get the sound i want like my old non dts receiver. I mean, with my old receiver i can get that umph in bass to my L/R even though i dont have a Sub. With the Elite i cant get that deep sound. I have the loudness on, i used that eq setup i set my spaker size accordingly. I think i will take it back.

I have the 45TX and can say it has no problem with bass. It does have very advanced set up options and it is possible you are still routing some/most of the bass to the sub output and not realize it.

You would want your L/R set to large and the other speakers set to small (otherwise the bass from those channels will not be routed to your mains). Also make sure your sub setting is on off, otherwise you will not get any LFE bass.

Make sure you check out the new yamaha receivers. I have a RXV-2200 little older but I got it half off, and its awesome. Look and make sure the elite has DTS-ES and DD-EX, because those are the next formats that are now comming out like on the LOTR extended or gift sets. THX isn't that important compared to DD2, DTS-ES, and DD-EX.
