how is kenwood?

i think I'm gonna get a kenwood 5.1 600 watt receiver/speakers from best buy...it's on clearance for 229.99 and looks like a sweet deal. can't spend a lot and this looks good for the money. Just wondered how kenwood holds up and how good overall it is.

i wouldn't worry.
Kenwood used to get a bad rap, but they started to turn that around specifically with their HTIBs.
unless they slipped a great deal in the last two years (doubt it) that system should be as good as any you could buy under $400.

I definetly have to agree with ckolchak. Although I don't own any Kenwood equipment anymore, I used to have a receiver and CD player. The receiver (VR-305) is still in use at my buddies place... and works flawlessly.

An important note to add: www.audioreview.com is a great site for personal reviews of most electronics. People put testimonies of their equipment on the site constantly. Check it out before you buy the receiver.

My father-in-law has a Kenwood Theater in a box that cost around $400 that sounds pretty darned good for that pricepoint.
