Best receiver for use with Klipsch?
I'm hoping to get some advice on a new recevier.
I'm looking to spend $400-$500. I have Klipsch bookshelf and surround sound speakers and an Energy sub woofer. I will be using the receiver for music as well as HDTV.
I've heard that since Klipsch speakers are "bright" you shouldn't combine them with certain receivers such as Yamaha. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

yeah, you'll definitely want a receiver a little on the mellow end.
Denon would be an excellent choice.
The Outlaw Audio receiver would probably also fit your needs.

I've had a Denon 4800 for some time now with my Klipsch KG3.5s ... it sounds nice. I'm very happy with the Denon...now if I can just spend the money and upgrade my speakers....that's another discussion I guess!

I guess it depends on how you define outdated. It's missing DTS ES, DTS NEO 6, and DPLII support, but otherwise the Outlaw is current. There's always a trade off in terms of quality vs. features, especially at lower price points. Only you can decide what's most important to you.
Another option is the Harmon Karden family of receivers. Although I have not listened to them w/ Klipsch speakers, in my experience they tend to mate well with bright speakers and are very good for music reproduction. Refurbs are often available directly from HK as well as several other outlets.

Denon Definitely
I have the reference 3 package and I'm using a Denon AVR3803. I've been extremely pleased. The Denon puts out good, clean power, and Klipsch speakers are so effiecient that they don't really need much wattage. I've heard Yamaha and Harmon Kardon sound well w/ them, too. Another nice feature about some of the new Denons is component upsample and switching - very nice. Good luck!

i have a yamaha 992 powering my Klipsch KSP 300's, and at times (mostly on poorly recorded material) it can sound a little bright. i think it is mostly because the Klipsch's are so efficient (94 dB sensitivity.) while they sound good (and loud) on 2 channel stereo, the system really rocks for home theater. i am considering a denon for my next receiver...but i'm gonna hold off for another year or so with the hopes that receivers with DVI (HDCP) switching are around the corner.
