Are there brands of DVD-R/W that will operate in an Xbox?

For putting multiple CD's onto one disk and playing it, or for playing movie backups.

Cd-r's never worked on an unmodded Xbox. Its an added feature thats built in so that you can only put in officially licensed Cd's, Movies and Games!

I was hoping with DVD-R's they mite be harder to distinguish from cheap movies and thusly would be a looser standard.

Save Ferris,
That's not entirely true about CD-Rs not working. It depends on what drive you have. The Thompson drive won't read any CD-Rs and most CD-RWs. I've found that my Thompson drive will read Memorex 650mb CD-RWs just fine. Not sure about the Philips, but I know for a fact the Samsung drive in newer Xboxes read almost any CD-R you throw at it.
