Reign of Fire..any good?

I picked this game up for $20 at Toys R Us yesterday (on Sale for $29.99 - $10 coupon from Toys R Us ad a month or two ago).

I'm toying with giving it to my son for Xmas, but I have two questions.

1) Is it any good as a game? While reviews say its looks pretty nice, they are not as up on the gameplay. Any agreements? Disagreements? It looks like it would be fun to play as a dragon, but if my son gets too bored before he reaches that stage, he'll never see it.

2) It is rated "M." I often find this to be a wishy-washy rating. My son is 5, but is quite okay with Halo. The demo of Bloodrayne, however, was too much for him as was Max Payne. I'm guessing its the difference between a lot of human blood vs alien....not sure.
Anyway, how hard an "M" is this game? Is there a lot of blood spillage or is more of a mayhem type rating?

Any info, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What magazine was this Toys R Us Coupon in?

Oh and to answer your question, I rented the game, overall it was decent but I wouldnt buy it no matter what the price was. I got bored with it before I was able to get to the dragon missions.

I rented the game also, and would not recommend buying it, even for $20. The missions are very repetitive, and playing as a dragon was only slightly more fun than playing as the humans.

As far as the 'M' rating, there is a lot of blood, as smaller dragons on foot rip your fellow soldiers apart all around you.

If you're looking for an inexpensive PS2 game for a 5-year old, I'd bring Reign of Fire back and get Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, or one of the other platform games.
