Taking class that studies Buffy

I'm so excited--I got into Women in Film (an English class that fulfills my "multicultural requirement"--I'm not totally shamming here). Buffy the tv show was listed as a possible topic--I have seasons 1-4 on dvd and this might prompt me to buy season 5 (my VCDs of that season are pretty messed up.) I'll volunteer to bring my multiregion dvd player to school if it means we can watch Buffy during class.

(Yeah, I know we'll probably have to write a bunch of essays. Thing is, I know writing essays on movies and tv shows will actually be fun.)

I actually just saw at Borders they had a book which was a collection of academic essays on Buffy.

It was called "Reading the Vampire Slayer".

I was a communications major in college and live for this type of stuff.

Now that would be homework (watching Buffy episodes) I would gladly do!

This will be a rare treat for me as a computer science major (math and programming . . . I like them and all, but I'm thinking Buffy will be more fun. Thelma and Louise is listed too, and I've always meant to watch it).

There's another book called Fighting the Forces that studies Buffy as well. I also know of an academic conference centered around Buffy that met in the U.K. a couple weeks ago. Buffy's good subject matter for those of us who study American culture (which is what I do so it's a great excuse to splurge on DVD's and the like)
