Choosing a new DVD player -- help wanted
The time has finally come. I've been dying to get a new DVD player as I've been watching my films on my JVC Xv-1000BK for as long as I've been into DVDs and the only fallback player I have is my Sony Playstation 2 [insert laugh here].
I was originally gonna buy the Xindak XDV-2100E CD/DVD Players (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=141439 http://www.xindakaudio.com/en/produc...o.asp?id=2100E http://www.xindakaudio.com/en/news/viewdoc.asp?id=5) but my funds have sadly become limited. So it comes down to these two players:
Malata DVP-520
JVC XV-S500/502
As you can probably guess, I'm looking for a DVD player with PAL to NTSC conversion, Multi Region capability, and progressive scan output for when I get myself a new TV in the somewhat distant future.
Where I'm looking to get either of the players (http://www.hkflix.com/hardware/) they have them both listed with all the same features except that only the Malata has X-Y scaling.
I'm just wondering if anyone who has experience with either of these players can give me their feedback with regards the pros and cons of either player. Also, if anyone has had both, could you tell me how they compare to each other?
I'm not after anything overly technical. Just a good comparison performance-wise.
Also, what is the black level of either player? 0IRE or 7.5IRE? Or is black level selectable (is that even the right word)?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Oh, before I forget, is the X-Box a good "fallback" player?
Again, thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

Since you're interested in just either of these two players, I'm going to close your thread and direct you to repost your question in the thread I just provided you with, if you have anymore questions.
Good luck with your DVD purchase. I'd like to get one of these myself, but I'm spending too much on Regon 1 DVDs as it is!
Also, you might want to spend some time reading through some of the old threads in this forum...lots of good information and advice.
Closing duplicate thread.
