If you could pick one song to get yourself pumped up before athletic competition ...

... what song would you pick?

Right now, I'd have to go with ES Posthumus - Pompeii (the song at the end of the Spider-man trailer).

Who Let The Dogs Out- Baha Men

Seriously, for me it would be something upbeat and heavy. Can't put a finger on a particular song right now. But thats just me

Good pick! I found this album on a newsgroup about 2 or 3 months ago. I haven't been able to find it on Amazon or CDNow yet. Awesome music.

During my cross-country days it was The Offspring's Smash album.

To hell with amazon and cdnow. Buy it from the official website, these guys deserve your money. http://esposthumus.com/buy.html

Thanks. I didn't know there was an official website. (I didn't even know if I had the correct name of the group or song titles.)

Comes out to $18.48 shipped. Not bad; I'd say it's well worth it.

"Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine was the first one that came to my mind...

You can listen to the song Pompeii at the above site, I am not sure if it is possible to download it.

Anyway, I always liked the Scorpions to get pumped up.

onyx - slam is another good one.

most heavy metal is pretty good, along with various types of techno.

Front 242 - Headhunter
Frontline Assembly - Mindphaser
Skinny Puppy - Assimilate [r23 Mix]

Nothing like Industrial/EBM to get the juices flowing.

Two songs that always worked for me if I wanted to feel hatred toward my opponents were Ministry - Flashback and NIN - Something I Can Never Have. While the second song is far from upbeat, it definitely got the anger juices flowing.

It may sound lame to most of you but I can't believe no one has mentioned the theme from Rocky.

I was listening to the soundtrack the other day on the treadmill (I rotate my cds) & I thought I was gonna run off the thing.

Burt Bacharach's I'll never fall in love again:
What do you get when you fall in love?
A guy with a pin to burst your bubble
That's what you get for all your trouble.
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

What do you get when you kiss a guy?
You get enough germs to catch pneumonia.
After you do, he'll never phone you.
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

Don't tell me what is all about,
'Cause I've been there and I'm glad I'm out,
Out of those chains, those chains that bind you
That is why I'm here to remind you

What do you get when you fall in love?
You get enough tears to fill an ocean
That's what you get for your devotion.
I'll never fall in love again.
I'll never fall in love again.

What do you get when you fall in love?
You only get lies and pain and sorrow.
So, for at least until tomorrow,
I'll never fall in love again!
I'll never fall in love again!

(Part of Bacharach/David Medley)
Don't tell me what it's all about
`Cause I've been there and I'm glad I'm out
Out of those chains, those chains that bind you
That is why I'm here to remind you. (here to mind you) 3x
What do you get when you fall in love?
You only get lies and pain and sorrow
So, for at least, until tomorrow
I'll never fall in love again
Oh, I'll never fall in love again
If that doesn't do it, nothing will.
