Region 0 shops in Europe for french DVD's (mostly anime)

Are there any legit french region 0 distributors in Europe? I'm looking for specific old french anime or animated titles that are not, and probably will never see the light of day in region 1 over on this side of the world. I checked Amazon but they only carry region 2 dvd's I think.

French DVD and SMC DVD player

I am interested in foreign DVDs. Just wanted to know where I can purchase French DVDs, aside from amazon.fr. If you do order from amazon.fr, how long does shipping take? I have a SMC DVD player, will Region 3 and 4 DVDs play on this machine? I have no problem running Region 2 DVDs on this player. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Bouncing this the one time just in case anyone had any favourite niche etailers that fit the bill as variously requested by southglenn, Feneant & Falcon2000....

I've ordered most of my R2 DVDs from Bensons World:

http://www.bensonsworld.co.uk

They offer free shipping. And when you are trying to figure out the cost of a DVD, don't forget to take out 17.5% VAT. Believe me, the discs aren't as expensive as they seem.

For R4, I've never ordered anything, but I've heard EZY DVD is a good place to shop:

I can't complain... after a night of searching, I found what I wanted in a region 1 DVD set released by a company in Quebec... it'll basically be like they copied the vhs versions to DVD, but it saves me problems of looking for stuff in France my player can't use

Bensons World is the best! They sent out my order for 3 discs on 9/26 and I had them in my hands on 10/1! That's pretty damn quick from the UK to Canada. When I would order stuff from the US it would always take at least a week to two weeks.

I don't think the VAT is included in the price they list on the Bensons site.Amazon UK hsa the VAT added in though. If you live in the US you just use the current curency conversion to get the final price.

I've had no problems with Coolashop or Hivizone, but those are both HK retailers. Dunno if you need something in Europe or what.

You could also try: http://www.fnac.fr

There's also quite a good European site for R2 discs:
http://www.dvdzone2.com

Dazza.

afaik neither Bensonsworld.co.uk nor Blackstar.co.uk remove VAT from overseas orders. Amazon.co.uk does, but they also charge for shipping.

(as for information about region 4 etailers, dvdplaza.com.au, a dvdtalk wannabe, is always worth a visit)

hope this helps,

Hemulen

Re: Who'd've thunk it?

Oh, man, I used the Search feature. That's how I came up with this thread in the first place....

Might be nice if someone made a "ONE and ONLY" post and kept all this Online Retailer info together. {I'd volunteer, as long as I knew that the thread would be welcomed and not shut down.}

Skorp, I do tend to merge/close the duplicate/overlapping factual threads: this thread itself originated from three singletons.

I had been thinking about doing something along the lines of your suggestion myself but then, of course, I'd be obliged to maintain it (). So, if you want to volunteer, Skorp, you are most welcome: I'll just close down the existing threads, including this one, once your comprehensive replacement is up and running.

Of course you'll need to ensure that you include all that previously posted information. The following threads may be of use - once re-checked for current accuracy - in addition to the others already referenced:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=136012
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=148867
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=139034
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=140438
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=142387
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=131538
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=132535
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=136760

.... I'm thinking that any unresolved problems with particular overseas etailers might also find a home in such a thread; the kind of scenario where people have been emailing, 'phoning, writing and not getting any sense out of the people with whom they're trying to do business.

That way we could see who was out there and what people thought of them. Something along the lines of "The one & only ALL about NON-Region One Etailers Thread" (TOP TIP: keep a back-up copy or two in Notepad just in case things ever go awry here e.g. if the server goes wonky while you are in the middle of posting an update or something!)

Apropos of nothing, at some stage we are also going to have to reach a consensus concerning which threads are to stay "sticky". Three is the most I wish to see up there and some threads are of the kind that can be bounced and/or will be posted to every two or three days so will nearly always stay on page one. It is for that reason alone that I've not thus far applied the sticky to cynthia's excellent thread.
