Re: Star Wars anime short films

I watched most of the first batch and really enjoyed the different concepts and ideas. They should use things like this as testing grounds for new movie projects instead of just hiring the latest flavor of the month and hoping they can put together a good story.

I still haven't finished the first batch but the ones I saw were very cool.

Watching the trailer, one of the stop motion looking ones seems to be like Aardman Animation maybe?

Star Wars: Visions Returns with Volume 3 in 2025

The critically-acclaimed series of animated shorts returns to Japan for a third installment in collaboration with nine anime studios.

Star Wars: Visions is returning to its anime roots with nine new shorts slated for release next year.

At the 2024 Disney APAC Content Showcase, it was exclusively revealed that Star Wars: Visions will debut a third volume in 2025.

The award-winning series first premiered in 2021, with nine shorts by seven different Japanese anime studios celebrating the mythology of Star Wars through unique cultural perspectives. Last year’s second volume took the imaginative series on a global tour, featuring animation from across Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Chile, France, South Africa, South Korea, and the United States.

Now with Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, the animated anthology returns to where it all began with nine shorts from nine different anime studios, including returning contributors Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, and TRIGGER. The next installment will also introduce five new anime studios to the world of Star Wars — ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga), David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio — to further demonstrate the diversity and creativity of Japanese animation.

I’m waiting for these Visions series to get the 4K steelbook treatment.

Volume 3 Release Date and New Star Wars: Visions Spin-off Series

An exciting announcement about longer-form Visions stories.

Today at Star Wars Celebration Japan, an exciting announcement came out of the Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 panel. After Lucasfilm’s James Waugh revealed a release date for the nine new Star Wars: Visions shorts - October 29, 2025 - he announced an all-new spin-off series of longer stories from Star Wars: Visions.

He invited “The Ninth Jedi” writer and director Kenji Kamiyama to the stage, who thanked the audience for being so supportive and enthusiastic about the adventures of Kara and Juro in “The Ninth Jedi” and the upcoming “Child of Hope.” He then announced that fans will watch Kara’s journey continue to unfold in an all-new spinoff called “Star Wars: Visions Presents - The Ninth Jedi.”
