Initially, having Don Infected walking around like a stalker was a bit too much. But then I thought it over. What if both him AND his wife had a genetic predisposition to not get the disease? There's certainly many that had some kind of weak resistance since so much blood was splattered it was bound to come into contact with someone.
Well, what I thought is that the dad could keep it in check. He was still Infected, and became angry, but could put together rational thoughts (in term of getting his prey, etc.) The Infected were not regular zombies, they had some wits about them, but much less than an average child, say. Rage just affected Don less.

thought it was great...28 days later was fantastic and original and this took the scenario and gave it the real world treatment...and was scaring me poopless most of the time...another poster had noted that he enjoyed it because it seemed to ignore most genre cliches, and i give it points for that.
as far as zombie dad, the wife and i were theorizing on the way home...when most people get infected, they are already in a high state of panic, fear, what have you...the adreneline is pumping and CHOMP, so the virus hits right onto that in the body...zombie dad wasn't experiencing any of those conditions when he swapped spit with the mrs., so maybe it took longer to go through him, leaving him with this much rationality - how he was able to track them ...?...maybe their senses are heightened and they can smell "food" and there weren't that many people running through london at the time. i really like the fact that the characters in both movies didn't stop the explain things all the time...this is the situation we're living in and that's that.

I'm not going to spoilerize since, at this point, it's pointless.
I really liked this movie. A lot. I thought it was better than the first, though it has been a while since I lasted watched that one. The film had a lot of very tense moments which, coupled with some great camera shots, had my stomach balled up in knots. I'm not typically a fan of shaky cam shots, but they worked for me in this film. The insanely deafening 5.1 sound mix certainly helped to ratchet up the tension. I thought it worked well as a quasi-zombie-ish film and as a post-apocalyptic film. I thought the director did a good job of melding a couple of different sub-genres into one cohesive movie. I'll admit the stalker Dad was a little odd, but they explained in the extras that the idea is that the virus is evolving and, in doing so, people act differently than those first infected. So I can believe that the father had some type of internal struggle over what to do. The ending did throw me off a bit, but from what I gather one, or both, of the uninfected people on the helicopter got infected sometime after or during landing and then it spread like wildfire.
I really hope they do finish the proposed trilogy. I'd happily accept either Boyle or Fresnadillo at the helm.

My new fav horror movie
Carlyle was excellent in his limited time - what a great actor.
I also love how the film stands on it's own from 28 Days - I was actually hoping for that.
Big improvement from the first one and I thought Danny Boyle's excitement for the film was awesome (watch the special features).
A lot of people will say it only went for the blood but I disagree, I thought the bulk of the violence really made you feel for both sides.
Everytime I thought I knew where the film was going, it suprised and pleased me at every turn.

I don't mean to bump this thread again but I just wanted to say that this movie actually freaks me out. I mention this because I can watch a lot of horror movies and get involved in the style and fun of them but this one hit all the right notes as far as the fear factor goes for me. The opening is unsettling enoughthen top it off with the "lock down" scene and the over all dread for the last half of the film (and that awesome subway scene) I actually get freaked out watching this flick.......that's definitely a good thing

I watched both 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later this week, and 28 Weeks Later is indeed, "Better than the original."
Overall I was pretty disappointed with both films, the critic's over-hyped them as being "groundbreaking" horror movies. Once I got over that the movies were 2 of the best horror flicks I've seen in along time (with the exception of the recent horror/thriller, 1408). Even though 28 Days Later had a very good lead actor (Cillian Murphy, Red Eye), 28 Days Later was pretty much a really long backstory for 28 Weeks Later, IMO.
This wasn't the most original horror movie ever created, but considering most horror films made these days are produced for people with ADD, this film is a masterpiece. I actually cared about the leads, the movie wasn't slowly paced and some of the special effects kicked fu*king butt.
4/5. : that's not 4/5 for the horror genre in general, just for current day horror.

I love this movie. I think I've seen this half a dozen times now. This feels almost blasphemous, but I think I do like this better than the amazing original. At least in terms of entertainment value. Helicopter scene!
Please give me a third movie Danny Boyle! Or Juan Carlos Fresnadillo!

The third film from what I remember is pretty much dead.
Wait.
Wikipedia had this:
I liked 2 a lot but it got stupid with the dad doing his thing. Otherwise when the film doesn't have anything to do with him from when he goes all rage... It's a solid flick.
Wait.
Wikipedia had this:
Fox Atomic stated in June 2007 that they would consider producing a third film, if DVD sales of the film did well. In July 2007, while promoting Sunshine, Boyle said he had a possible story for the next film. "There is an idea for the next one, something which would move the story on. I've got to think about it, whether it's right or not." In October 2010, when Alex Garland was asked what was happening with 28 Months Later, he declared: "I'll answer that completely honestly. When we made 28 Days Later, the rights were frozen between a group of people who are no longer talking to each other. And so, the film is never going to happen unless those people start talking to each other again. There is no script as far as I'm aware." In January 2011, Danny Boyle said, "There is a good idea for it, and once I've got [my stage production of] Frankenstein open, I'll begin to think about it a bit more." On 13 April 2013 Boyle stated: "[I]t’s 40/60 whether [a sequel] happens or not. But we did have an idea of where to set it and what it might be about." When asked to share that idea, Boyle laughed and said "No, because they’ll end up in The Walking Dead."

I don't think it's better than the original, though as far as money shots go, that helicopter scene is pretty hard to hear. I don't think it quite has the human touch of the original, though it clearly has a bigger budget. How much bigger, I've never quite been able to figure out. And just love the look of the slightly raggedy Super 16. I've thought about getting these on BR, but as they're both shot decidedly low tech, I don't know if there'd be much long. Though these were a terrific pair, decidedly better than World War Z or Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake. They're both admittedly pastiches of past genre movies, but I think they're handled very well. I find it fascinating to watch the DVD extras and hear Fresnadillo's broke English, but then see how beautifully he handles the film. It looks like he knows his way around an action set piece too, wonder how he'd fare on bigger-budget stuff. Yeah, I know, "THEY'RE NOT ZOMBIES!" But they might as well be, it's so seeped in zombie movie lore. Thoroughly enjoyable horror flicks, smartly scripted and with a nice human touch and edge of social commentary, proper Romero disciples. Good stuff.

Well the first one is pointless to get on BD cuz of how Boyle shot it. The 2nd was using stuff that benefitted BD, no? It's 1080p, I thought.
