ESPN+ streaming service

News regarding the ESPN streaming service:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/espn-ta...ort-1503347781

ESPN also recently announced that it will start its own streaming service early next year. It won’t be a replica of the regular ESPN channel, but does plan to show Major League Baseball and National Hockey League games.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

I thought that NBC Sports had exclusive rights for NHL games in the USA.

I wonder how it's going to compete with MLB.tv aside from having the NHL.

The ESPN brand has become toxic to MLB and NHL fans after how they've treated those sports the last decade. I think ESPN is looking for cheap filler content.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

I would still prefer ESPN covering NHL over NBC Sports Network.

I don't think the NBC Sports Network spends any money on their intermission shows. Mike Milbury puts me to sleep.

Whenever the same NHL game is on HNIC and NBC Sports,I will watch HNIC because of it's superior coverage.

I would love to see ESPN 2 eventually have an NHL doubleheader every Friday night but as I mentioned before,as far as I know,NBC Sports have exclusive rights unless they rework the contract and share it with ESPN.

I don't think ESPN is interested in the NHL because of its demographics and key cities. If it weren't for the Yankees and Dodgers, I don't think ESPN would care if they lost baseball.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

http://money.cnn.com/2018/02/06/medi...ing/index.html

ESPN's streaming service will be $4.99/month

Some additional notes:

https://www.cnet.com/news/disney-pri...9-dollar-cost/

ESPN Plus will launch as part of a redesign of the ESPN network's app. The new service is meant to provide thousands of live sports events that aren't on the main channels, Iger said. That will include Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and National Hockey League games, as well as rugby, golf, cricket and other contests. The service will also let users stream ESPN films and other exclusive programming.

ESPN Plus will be available on both Apple's iOS and Google's Android mobile device systems, as well as on Apple TV and Google's Chromecast streaming-media device.

For all users, the ESPN app redesign will introduce a different user interface to continue showing off scores, sports highlights and podcasts. For people who subscribe to a traditional cable or satellite package that includes ESPN, the app will stream its networks.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

Video's kept popping up at the money.cnn.com so I couldn't read the entire story.

What happens to Watch ESPN(ESPN3)? Will it continue to show sports that aren't on the ESPN Networks or will a lot of that port over to ESPN+?

According to Cord Cutter News.com, MLS Live will switch over to ESPN + and if this doesn't happen before the new season starts, the games will be shown on the MLS website.

ESPN + to launch next Thursday at $4.99 per month: http://deadline.com/2018/04/espn-set...te-1202356893/

and here's the official release from ESPN on what this service will carry:

https://espnmediazone.com/us/press-r...-99-per-month/

Read this release before you ask any questions about it. It should cover all your questions.

re: Disney to launch streaming service in 2019 & ESPN service in 2018

Will MLS have replays available for all games or just the games from ESPN+?
The MLS Live APP(used in past seasons) not only carried all the games and replays but went back a few years with replays.

ESPN+ is now available

Check it out at ESPN.com . There is an icon in the upper right hand corner.

I just joined through Facebook.

It's free for a month then you will be billed 4.99 a month.

I don't know what devices work with ESPN+. I couldn't find a link.(edit -no Roku at startup but they do have Amazon Fire TV on the list)

They are supposed to have an MLB game every day during the regular season.

Plus an NHL game every day starting next season.

Do you post with a phone or something?

Just go to the task bar and CTRL C/CRTL V to copy and paste the link. Posting Links 101.

Also worth mentioning about this service, it appears it's now the exclusive home of the ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries after they air on TV.

The newest one: The Last Days of Knight (Bobby Knight documentary) is premiering early on the service.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

No Roku sucks.
Blackouts also suck.
Other than that, it seems like a decent deal. If it ends up being like the ESPN app, it would be well worth the $5 a month. Interesting that they are streaming NHL games.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

I noticed some NHL playoff games were available on replay this morning after I was told by an ESPN+ rep that only the MLS would have replays.

In the past NHL.TV wouldn't have playoff games available for 72 hours because they were national broadcasts but here's hoping ESPN+ has some other kind of agreement.

Sucks about no Roku and I was having problems logging in with Amazon Fire(stick) yesterday.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

Any word on College Football or Basketball Division II on ESPN+?

I don't know why they don't do minor league sports(Minor League Baseball and Hockey). The MILBTV app sucks and the AHL and ECHL are so overpriced I don't see why anyone would want their product.

Re: ESPN+ is now available

I already have an MLB.TV account so what happens if you click on a game at ESPN+. I don't want to accidently order it again since I originally signed in with Facebook it's hard too say what would happen.

So ESPN+ has the same blackout rules right? I'd subscribe if it wasn't so I could watch Dodger games

I’m guessing so, but at 9:10 CST tonight, they are showing Nationals vs Dodgers.
