What Are You Playing? (July 2017)

Re: What Are You Playing? (July 2017)
That was how I was feeling as well when I was juggling AC Syndicate and GR Wildlands. So I put Wildlands down for a bit while I finished up Syndicate, and now I'm working through the DLC. Once I finish with that, I'm going to play through a shorter game and then return to Wildlands again. The game is fun, but playing two similar Ubisoft games at the same time can be tiresome.
I'm done complaining, I do love the game but boy oh boy has it grown weary for me... especially super difficult missions.

Just finished up Stories of Bethem: Full Moon on XB1. This game was on sale during one of the last sales for like $5 and I looked up some reviews and it looked interesting so I picked it up. I started playing it about 2 weeks ago and got hooked. It's basically Link to the Past except you use magic spells instead of melee/shield. I can't recommend it enough. It's also quite a meaty game for the price it took me a little over 20 hours to complete.
Last night I started Voodoo Vince Remastered and I'm about 3 or so hours in. I never had an original XBox so I hadn't played it before and so far it's a serviceable 3D platformer. Nothing special but I'm still enjoying it. They did a good job with the remastering because it looks and plays like a modern platformer.

Me too. Shovel Knight is one of those rare games that I wound up buying (and playing through) twice -- originally on Steam and again on the Wii U (for the goodies and an excuse to play with the Amiibo). I loved everything about it from top to bottom.

Trying to make an effort to play some of my back log before all the fall games come out. Finally starting up Dishonored 2 on PC, and launched Wolfenstein The Old Blood the other day on Xbox (and wanted to throw the controller a few times at those big electric suit guys early in the game)

I just started Metro Last Light on PS4 yesterday and so far it's great. Playing through on hard gives you a really good challenge. I might go back and play through the first one again since it's been a few years since I finished it on Xbox 360.

Is that the 2nd? I have that and 2033, that's the first, I think. Played and little and really liked it, but abandoned for some reason. Looking forward to playing them and the new one coming out...

Re: What Are You Playing? (July 2017)
Not much going on this month for me game-wise. Just a couple titles...
I guess I'm trying to power through Mass Effect Andromeda, but it's become a bit of a slog (mostly the cookie-cutter missions), though I do enjoy it's settings, exploration and gameplay which is what keeps me interested.
Besides that, I'll play an occasional round of Tekken 7 or Guilty Gear. But when I play GG after Tekken, I realize how much better of a fighting game GG is - and it looks so much better too.

Witcher 3
This game is right up my alley, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get anywhere. Having two young children in the past 3 years has severely limited my playing time. When I get a couple of hours to myself, I have a hard time firing this up. So much to do, so many places to go. It's a little daunting. I have decided that I'm not going to bother with min/maxing everything, worrying about every potion or spell, and just enjoy the missions and world outside of the menus and inventory.
I will say, I love the level of customization the game offers. The HUDs were overbearing when the game started, until I realized that I could shut most of it off. Much cleaner, and more immersive that way.

I'm, like, two main quests away from finishing Horizon: Zero Dawn.
And yet...
I started Stephen's Sausage Roll this weekend. Can't... stop... rolling...

Been working on the Final Fantasy XII remaster for PS4. I'm considering abandoning job as the new job system makes the game considerably harder than it needs to be.

With my current teaching schedule, this is the perfect game for me to play during the Summer.

I fired up Rise of the Tomb Raider and can't stop playing... what an awesome game. So I guess Horizon will go on the back burner... again.

XB1, first time...never played it on N64
Fun at first, then loose controls and vehicles (fucking Backlash!) can make this game frustrating. Just need 3 more missions to complete game, but can't pass them. I'm done!

Played this a lot on SEGA DREAMCAST when it came out. This version looks great, a bit too fast, had to get use to it. Zoomimg is useless.
