Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2013 Horror Challenge
Oh, please let's not open that can of worms again. I think it's fairly obvious that we're never gonna satisfy everyone on this matter. There's always going to be those that wanna keep it "pure" and disagree with the inclusion of TV content. And there's the "I don't mind, but don't wanna see a 22-minute show count as a complete entry" crowd. Personally I think we have a great compromise going on. I don't really see changing things resolving much of anything, that is, other that making my job easier due to not having to deal with all the fractions.
For all the complaining about the high numbers now, well, just imagine the totals after everything is counted as one entry: "Hey, there's no way in hell this guy hit 653!" would replace the old hitting 300 discussion.
And just for the record, I'm extremely lenient when it comes to tabulating the TV shows. I can tell you straight up that there's always a few oversights or some that don't count them according to the guidelines and it's overlooked. I'm pretty good at abiding by the opening thread mantra of "It's not an exact science".
As far as the wildcards go, it looks like that could be an upcoming debate we need a fresh vote on.

I can get some Scream Factory titles for prizes. They are incredibly generous with samples (99% of which end up in my personal collection, ahem) and we order every title (I think) they release.
If anyone happens to talk to Walter of Scorpion please tell him I'd badly like to have his product in our catalog!

Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2013 Horror Challenge
I'm not suggesting that anything change. I have no issue with counting them in the current format. Hell, I very seldom watch tv stuff for this particular challenge anyway. All I'm merely saying is that every time a ridiculous list crops up and I dare to speak up about it, the general consensus is that numbers don't matter. But they obviously still do.
My main obstacles now are gaining back the 20+ pounds lost, returning to a weight training regimen for the lost muscle mass, and, most importantly, being able to sleep on my side again and possibly even stomach--sleeping solely on your back for almost a year gets old fast.
But yes, it's definitely helped. No regrets.

Just a note that I really like how we have done tv shows this last couple of years and hope that it stays the same. With tv making better horror than most movies lately, I think it is good to have an easy choice to include them.
Carry on.
Carry on.

Thinking about the challenge made me think about this...
For my prize contribution to the challenge I normally set a budget for the prizes (it all comes straight out of pocket, and as much as I wish that I was, I'm not made out of money
) so, I'm thinking would the participants rather- a higher priced item, a couple lower priced items (like i've done in the past) or a gift certificate (probably in the $15 range - also possible to split that up for a couple winners) to a horror site that I choose.

I'll use you guys as a small sampling and figure that I'll shop around and if I find something cool in stores I'll go with that and if not I'll probably do some sort of gift certificate

Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2013 Horror Challenge
Just wanted to give a heads up that I'll be posting the thread a little earlier than usual, which is actually later than last year. No big change.
Don't mean to step on the toes of the other challenges--gonna be out of town when it's usually done and posting that from my travel laptop isn't especially convenient.
