Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
Well, I was going to provide my thoughts after I'm done with the season 3 finale. I'm also interested in reading the "Does Breaking Bad Get Good" thread, but haven't ventured in there to avoid potential spoilers. With that said, I quickly went through the first 5 episodes of season 3, and love what's happening. Can't wait to see that season unfold.

I think part of him cares and part of him realizes what a complete boob Jesse is and just giving him the 480K will lead to both their downfalls.
Jesse claiming his civil rights were being violated was great when the dad came into his place

"Yo, I pay rent, I've got civil rights"

Will be diving into S3 probably tonight

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
I can't believe Walt just let her die. For Christ's sake, his daughter was just born, I can't buy his coldheartedness in this scene. Saving the girl could have bought him more good will in the girl's eyes. Letting her die just seems like a writer's cop-out after writing Walt into a total corner. Had Walt not been there, and it just happened naturally, sure, it'd feel just a writer's cop-out, but at least it was earned by both of the character's history with their weakness for drugs. Now Walt is truly in a dark place that should consume his soul in guilt for any goodness he receives going forward. Whatever empathy I might have for Walt has considerably waned with this choice of inaction on his part. I realize he realized this was the best thing to happen for his own hide and his family's future, but on a sliding scale of wrong and breaking bad, it's truly a black mark on his permanent record.

old bump
I am watching these for the first time and just finished Season 2 episode 2 (Grilled) last night
I am loving the show thus far but it is funny how they set up all these moral dilemas on the show and the different decisions and consequences yet when Hank shows up at the end to kill Tuco thus saving Walter and Jesse, Walter doesn't hesitate from bolting from the scene leaving his bro in law possibly a sitting duck without amo for when the cousins show up
I know it's all about self preservation for Walter but it just seemed a little odd

Walt "leaving" Hank to possibly fend for himself is about the least fucked up thing you'll ever see him do again.

Walt leaving Hank was merely panic -- IMO. He was new to this and scared shitless. As he evolves, he just becomes a self-righteous prick all about the power and self preservation.

I can't remember that far back
but that sounds really innocent by comparison.

I'm in the middle of season 2, and can't believe I waited this long to engulf myself into this show. My only complaint: Pinkman's teeth are too clean and non-meth-like. He should be wearing fake, rotten teeth.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I would resurrect this one (though for spoilers sake I haven't read through this entire thread).
I started watching Breaking Bad last week and I just finished S2 ep4 "Down." For some reason I'm just not feeling this show. Should I continue to watch or am I at the point where if I don't like the show now I probably won't like it down the road?
I know Giancarlo Esposito joins the show in S3 and I love him so I was trying to at least make it to his storyline but it's getting difficult. Thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Finish out the season, there's a reason Bryan Cranston won a boatload of Emmy's, it starts with Season 2... keep it going.. And Aaron Paul...
the show gets better and better

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
I agree. I just went through all the seasons, but it took me until mid-way into season two to get entirely hooked. In fact, I found season one to be good, but a bit edgy for my tastes. The subsequent seasons you get deeper into the characters and it's more about the story than the shock (though there are shocking moments!).

I would say just give up if you don't like it by now. However since you love Giancarlo Esposito just read how the rest of season two goes and watch season three as he is a great character. If you still don't like season three with him then for sure give up.

Got into the show late too, but thankfully for Netflix the wife and I are working our way thru it. We're about halfway thru season 3 right now and hoping to get it finished in time for when season 5.2 starts in August.
I can definitely see how some people find it hard to get into and then at the same time see how many rave aout the show. Shame that its coming to an end

If you liked Esposito before this, you'll appreciate him even more after BB. S2 finale is fantastic.

Same, as horrible as Marie: Kleptomanic was, the rest was excellent in S1.

Doing a re-watch of this series and on Episode 2 "Grilled" I noticed for the first time Hank was going through Walt's car he paused and took a big sniff at the car seats. I'm guessing he smelled the chemicals to make Meth. Wonder why he never questioned Walt about it? Was a big clue that Hank just ups and forgets.

Later they gave Hank a rock fetish to make up for it.
