What Are You Playing? (August 2021)
I know it’s tomorrow, but next time I play it will be tomorrow.
For no reason in particular, after playing like 3-4 games and just not catching on. I mean I will get back to them bc I was liking, just not in mood or ADHD kicking in and didn’t know what the hell I wanted to play, but took a little break from RE: Village (about to finish) and just couldn’t decide what to play. I saw Darksiders III was on game pass and I decided to start from beginning with Darksiders I since I had, played a bit, but didn’t remember anything and know I didn’t play much for unknown reasons. But, decided to give it a go and having a lot of fun. Exploration, some. Things to find, new enhancements, DOOM (2016) like fatalities, basically a button masher, but really plays fluidly, been on a platforming buying binge, but popped this on and really a blast thus far (really early, half hour or so).
Love collecting souls, doing these missions, the hack and slash with some flare. I don’t know beginning of the story (and not sure matters too much) for some reason default had dialogue on mute and no subtitles during cutscenes. I thought it was game, but couldn’t imagine it would default to that. Thought it was the game. Uninstalled, reinstalled, then went to options and turned everything on that should have already been. So far looks beautiful and is very fun. Diversity of these bosses and enemies is great and rendered beautifully on screen. Liking very much and I think I chose wisely.

Re: What Are You Playing? (August 2021)
Cthulhu Saves Christmas is next up for me, and I’m hoping to at least start Final Fantasy VII Intergrade before the month’s out. I’d like to work in the expansions for Ghost of Tsushima and Avengers if I can. It’s not an outrageously tall order given how short Cthulhu is, but I have quite a movie backlog to work through, which could complicate things.
And I’m still playing Sackboy with my wife. We’re aiming for near-completionism: tracking down all the collectibles but not caring about death-less runs. And maybe not the speed run stuff, which I’ve barely touched. I also bought her Chicory, which she hasn’t started but is very excited about.
And all that’s on the PS5! I’ll make it up to my Switch and XBSX one of these days.

I think I'm probably 2/3 of the way through Skyward Sword. Other than the first couple hours where I was still getting used to the controls this has been another great Zelda game.
I quit Scarlet Nexus (PS5) after about 12 hours. I keep waiting to connect to the characters or the bad anime plot but nothing grabbed me. The combat is fun but you're fighting the same 3-4 enemies over and over and returning to the same exact areas over and over.
Once I finish Skyward Sword it will probably be Death's Door and the New Pokemon Snap free DLC they added.

Since finishing up Final Fantasy II via PSP, Final Fantasy III 3D Remake via PC, and Final Fantasy VI via SNES over the last year... I've now started playing Final Fantasy I: Pixel Remaster.

Besides my typical everyday of the week type games.....I picked up Strange Brigade for $4.00 from BB and absolutely love this game!! I read comments about it being too hard etc....ridiculous!!! Fun game!!! The game has campaign mode, horde mode and a timed version of the game with a couple off different maps to choose from the game. On my 3rd play through and started a co-op game the other day with friends. A lot of fun!! Check it out!

I'm still playing Horizon: Zero Dawn. I'm most of the way through the story, dipped my toe into the DLC, and am starting to work my way through the collectables and whatnot. Fun game.

Finally finished off The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV.
Also nearing the end of FF1 PR. Saved and quit right outside the final dungeon.

Re: What Are You Playing? (August 2021)
Cthulhu Saves Christmas was a quick platinum! I really enjoyed it. Easy but engaging (I admittedly didn't crank up the difficulty), written with a really clever self-awareness, and doesn't overstay its welcome. I like my old school JRPG throwbacks to be a single digit number of hours, and I think this one took a little over 4 hours.
My wife and I started Chicory: A Colorful Tale the other day. I was surprised to see that it has couch co-op, although player 2 (which is me, in this case) is just another paintbrush. I don't feel like I'm contributing much (filling in blank spaces and occasionally helping to solve puzzles), but it's still nice to be able to participate in some way. I guess we're alternating between that and Sackboy, which we're still enjoying, although we rarely play more than a stage or two at a time. So even though it's a short game, it'll probably take us a good, long while to work through it.

Yes, much more than the first. Best storytelling in a videogame I've ever experienced.
Plus now with the DLSS upgrade it's much more consistent @ 4k/60Hz on my older [email protected]/2080Ti combo.
Epic says I've played for 6d 4h 52m 16s. lol

About halfway though my insanity play through of Mass Effect 2. It can be very aggravating. After completing it, I think this is my fifth time beating this game.

Earlier in the month finished Muv-Luv Extra:
Still don't know what a "muv-luv" is There are two more games in the series which by all accounts are much better (Unlimited and Alternative). I'll get to them eventually. While I've played Japanese visual novels before, this was the first one with H-scenes (sex scenes). Which was a weird fit for this story, since everything else was PG-rated silly teen romantic comedy. Except at the end of each of the story branches was a graphic X-rated sex scene with whatever girl you were closest to. Supposedly this is a somewhat common practice for the genre (although these scenes are typically edited out of the games in for platforms for PS3/4 and Steam).
About a week ago started Tales of Zestiria:
I only played one Tales game before (Xillia) and enjoyed it. I know this isn't supposed to be a masterpiece, but it seemed light-hearted, quick-moving, and fun (and I like the anime style). I don't think I understand a fraction of the equipment/spell/combat system, but I'm getting by with button mashing on "moderate" difficulty just fine.
