Well, the Fallout 4 bundle finally swayed me. Time to give my boy the 360 for his figure games.

I decided to go with the Forza bundle over tryng to get the upcoming Halo bundle. I liked the controller a lot more and also saved $100. Will save more once I sell the game too.
But my question goes out to you guys that have an X1 but do not have a Kinect. Did any of you run your cable or satellite TV thru the X1 or did you keep it separate?
I ran my kid's through it because he only had 2 HDMI hook-ups on his TV and doing that saved one of them but other than that, I am not sure if there are any other advantages to it. All I can find searching are old articles stating that their picture was degraded when they did this or they were just doing it for the Kinect voice commands. Not much else.
Any opinions?

Picked up one of these yesterday at Best Buy. I didn't go to pick it up until early evening (since I had put down a preorder deposit, I knew they would have one for me), and I saw two different people in the parking lot who had just bought one and were carrying it to their cars. So it was kind of odd that at 7pm they sold 3 within 5 minutes. Anyway, haven't opened mine yet. Since most of the stores near me still have them in stock, I'm thinking of waiting through my return period to see if BBY offers any kind of console deal over the next few weeks ($50 GC, free game, etc.) - I'll do a return/rebuy.
If not, do it anyway, and just trade in the game for something else. It should be easy this close to the holidays.

If anyone needs a hard drive, Best Buy has a 2 TB Western Digital Passport Ultra for $65. Its $86.99 on Amazon. Seems like a decent deal, I'm going to get one to finally get more storage for my XBox.

With NBA2K16 free as nickdawgy mentioned earlier. That's a pretty great deal, and can always sell/trade away NBA 2K16 for decent money since it just came out if you don't care for it.

Battlefield Hardline will be in the EA Vault this month. I didn't love it enough to buy it when it came out, so it'll be nice to play through it (someday) without paying for it.

Just a reminder...Project Spark goes COMPLETELY FREE today, not just the base game but also all of the DLC. I actually started the base game over the weekend, and I completely get why if I was somebody who jumped on board at the beginning (and I wish I had) that I would be a little pissed off that everything I worked for is now free. The DLC really could be free already if you were willing to work your butt off for credits.
But with that said, it's a nice game creation builder...I'm way far from understanding what I am doing but I'm not frustrated and I'm actually enjoying everything that is going on. I will be spending a lot of time on this one and its the first thing I've played on XB1 that makes me glad I've bought the system.
Quick tip: Play through the entire tour. It's ridiculously helpful and nets you a nice chunk of achievements. I'm old school, but if there was a physical guide on Amazon, I would totally buy it. I don't care if it was 800 pages (as long as it was useful) and $30, I'd buy it.

a couple dumb questions I cant look up right now since my work internet blocks "game" sites:
1) backwards compatibility. Is this only going to be available on newer xbox ones?
2) from what i understand, there is a HDMI input on the back of the xbox one. its to be used for cable tv pass through, right? can you hook up another game system to the input and pass it though as well if you're out of HDMI inputs on your receiver?

pinata242 got it right, but to go into detail a bit more:
1) MS stated today that when the "Windows 10 update" for Xbox One is released this "holiday", 360 backwards compatibility will be included.
http://techcrunch.com/2015/10/06/mic...-this-holiday/
2) Any HDMI device can be passed through the input. There is a delay of a few milliseconds on the device using the passthrough, so some people notice it as a "lag" issue on gaming devices.

When the XBO launched I hooked up my 360 this way, it was borderline unplayable.

I got the new Windows 10 dashboard last night. It's... ehh..
Sure, it's a bit quicker, but the home page is absurd now.
- The "last played" or "currently playing" window is massive. Takes up a huge chunk of the screen.
- The apps/games listed below it are also absurdly large. They take up the same width, but just aren't as tall.
- "My Games & Apps" is all the way at the bottom. There's an easy way to get to it (R2, I think), but you still have to click it after you scroll down to find it. "My Games" should be on the left-hand menu, in the most easily accessible and obvious spot.
- I pinned all my games pinned to the Home screen to avoid going into the "My Games & Apps" menu, but of course, they don't all show up. There's a maximum (about 25, I think?), and the explanation they give you is basically " use Smartglass to see them all" which is dumb.
In general, I kind of like (but definitely don't love) the UI, but the Home Screen is a complete disaster, IMO.

It also doesn't recognize the new Rock Band 4 instruments as active input devices so you:
a) cannot navigate the Xbox GUI / launch the game and
b) engages the screen saver after 5 minutes because you're not using an xbox controller

I was using the Beatles Gretsch guitar with my controller plugged in via mini-USB from the play-and-charge kit which also solves the screen-dimming problem.

Depends how sensitive you are to the type of delay produced by the HDMI passthrough. Some people may never even notice it, while others absolutely can't put up with it.
The Windows 10 dashboard may make this better, but I don't think anyone has really tested it for that yet.

Wow, this new update is the New Coke of console updates. Nothing is working for me now. Can't see my Friends list, can't access the Store content, can't access game saves over the internet. I'd swear I was offline, but checking the Network Connections, I'm all good apparently. WTF is going on here?

Did you manually reboot after the update? I had to. I also have mine in power-saving mode, where OFF really means OFF. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Yeah, I've manually rebooted like four times. Gotta call Xbox I guess...
