Did anyone order the digital d/l code from Walmart? Will they just email it to you at midnight tonight? Trying to decide if I should do this or just sit tight until 11/22.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)
Unfortunately it looks like my COD days are coming to an end. I remember between MW4, WAW, and Black Ops 1 I literally played for days. Just came back from Best Buy, popped the game in and its the same old thing. I wasn't expected any major changes, but if you have MW3 or Black Ops 2 don't even bother spending $$$ on this. The gameplay is exactly the same, sure there are some new game modes, perks, and weapons, but they need to overhaul this engine. It looks like the hype has died down also, I remember a few years ago waiting in line for over an hour at midnight launches, tonight I was in and out in 5 minutes. There were about 10 people there. My son will get hours of enjoyment out of it, but until they redo this engine my days are done.

I had to work yesterday until 00:10, so I headed to the midnight sale. Walked right up to the cashier without any other people waiting, must've been arond 00:20 though. I installed the game and played a few multiplayer rounds. How ridiculously large are the maps!? I was running around ages sometimes without even seeing anybody and it made me even more frustrated if I got wrongfully killed (someone must've spawned behind me).
Black ops 2 multiplayer was a terrible experience for me, and I was very cautious about ever buying a new COD, it looks like this may be my last if my experiece stays this dreadful.

Reviews thus far haven't been all that enthusiastic.
IGN: 8.8 / 10
Eurogamer: 7 / 10
Edge: 7 / 10
Polygon: 6.5 / 10
USGamer: 3 / 5
Giant Bomb: 3 / 5
Destructoid: 5 / 10
Most of these sites gave much more glowing reviews to Black Ops 2.
FWIW, a couple do note framerate dips on the PS4, so I guess that extra resolution comes at a cost.

I think the reviews have been going down the past few years. And the sale numbers up, of course.
But the new consoles I expect the sales numbers to be split, and look like they are lower now.
Then there's people like me, the last COD game I got was BLOPS 1, so I haven't seen/played anything of the last two games. I'm planning on getting Ghosts for the Xbox One.
And about the PS4 framerate issues, that's expected. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some in the Xbox One too, even at 720p.

Why do you take it so personal? If you don't want to read his comments block him. I'll add this, for as overboard in the direction of pro-Sony/anti-Microsoft as Chess is, you come off exactly the same in the direction of Microsoft apologist. Before I got to the comment where he posted, "Move along, nothing to see here", I was going to post exactly the same thing. You've gotten far too predictable and that makes it hard to find either opinions realistic.

This will be the first COD game I don't buy. I was VERY underwhelmed by MW3. It just didn't do it for me. I just haven't seen or read anything to make me believe this is some sort of leap forward for the genre.

That's sort of how it goes isn't it? One person criticizes somebody else for gloating, while gloating.
So wait you were underwhelmed by MW3, but bought Black Ops II and are skipping Ghosts?

BO2 tried to do something a little different, this looks to be more of the same. It's still a license to print money though, so what do they care.

Boy, after reading these reviews I think I'm going to skip Ghosts for a while. I'd planned to pick it up in the Target sale, but I still have MW2 and MW3 to play, and I should clear those out. What a shame, I like dogs...

- Joystiq mentioned in their review that the frame rate drops were noticeable during the PS4 campaign, but were nowhere to be found on the 360 and PS3 versions.
- Some sites reported frame rate drops on both the PS3 and PS4 versions of multiplayer while the issue did not exist on the 360.

Sounds like the PC version is still the way to go.
GC: Is the PC version still better?
MR: There’s actually some features that we’ve added to the PC that are definitively not on any other generation. We worked with Nvidia a lot with this, but we have a different form of anti-aliasing that’s really new and advanced – that isn’t on current or next gen. We have a fur shader on the dog and on the wolves, they actually have a moving fur shader that works really well, for PC. And the third one, which I think is one of the coolest ones, is we’re using Nvidia’s APEX Turbulence tech to have smoke that actually wisps and waves and moves out of the way of objects.

More than a little pissed that they've taken S&D out of the playlists. Not really a fan of Search and Rescue.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)
Some guy at Forbes compiled some review quotes.
Polygon ”Much has been said about the fact that the PlayStation 4 version of the game runs at a native 1080p, and while that may be true, the game did struggle to maintain a steady frame rate, especially in hectic multiplayer matches. The PS3 version of the game ran into similar problems, whereas the Xbox 360 version maintained a steady 60 frames per second.”
IGN “On the current-gen versions Ghosts looks nearly identical, though I did encounter occasional framerate issues during the single-player campaign on PS3 and PS4.”
Joystiq ”A key pillar of the Call of Duty experience has always been rock-solid 60 frames per seconds gameplay. On Xbox 360, Ghosts maintains this mandate. The PlayStation 4 version, however, has noticeable technical issues, sometimes slowing to a crawl, particularly during set-piece moments with multiple effects. One specific moment I was able to replicate multiple times on PS4 was a campaign scene that ran smoothly on Xbox 360 and PS3, while the game chugged On PlayStation 4. These frame rate hitches happen throughout the campaign on PS4 and, in a series known for its Hollywood-inspired bombast, it detracted from the experience.”
Forbes guy "They say that there was no lag noticeable on Xbox 360, but Xbox One reviews are embargoed until Nov. 12. So far, I haven’t noticed any slowdown on the Xbox 360 version, but that isn’t particularly relevant."

I'm curious to see what the framerate is like on the XO. If it's like the PS4 (as I expect), then it further shows how MS is facing an uphill battle. But if it's got the same "rock-solid 60 frames per second" of the 360 version, but at 720p...? That changes everything! EVERYTHING!!

For a game that is running a ten-year old engine, it PC specs should NOT require more intensive specifications than Battlefield 4.

The real killer for me is the death of 4-player split-screen. That is far and away my most played method for COD and its absence means that Ghosts won't get much replay. So sue me for preferring to game with other real live people in the same room.

Totalbiscuit is not impressed...says the PC version is chugging on a Titan.

Looks like the 360 version is the lead version and probably the one to buy.
