Also, there's this that was just posted: http://www.destructoid.com/call-of-d...e-265074.phtml
I can't remember who it was but might have been Driftor on YT that stated the dedicated servers for Xbox 360 and XboxOne will be turned on after or on the 12th.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

Played some online squads this morning before I went to work - Not bad. Couple of maps are way too big for my taste. Assault rifles are the most dominant weapons. Sidearms are weak. The loadout creation system is confusing but it is pretty good once you figure it out. No lag or connections lost. The replacement for UAV is hot garbage IMHO. The attack dog killstreak is f*&$ing awesome. The dog warns you when enemies are approaching with a growl and he will attack/distract enemies to earn you extra kills. The speedy/Stabby Juggernaut is great too.

"Mark Rubin: It's six. Two current-gens, two next-gens, and PC, plus the Wii U, which we didn't do."

they don't consider Wii U to be 'current-gen' or 'next-gen.'

Wii U: Transcending Generations since 2012.

So we have Next-Gen with the PS4 and Xbox One and then what? The Tranny Gen?

Wii U is the red-headed step child, doesn't belong to a gaming generation... it is left out with the PC as an after thought...

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

After spending about eight hours on multiplayer before putting the 360 disc back into a Redbox machine, here are my thoughts:

The Good:
  • Hit accuracy is far improved from not only from Black Ops 2, but also MW2 and MW3. Kills require two-to-three shots, at the most. It's very close to playing hardcore.
  • Squad points are a far better system to unlocking perks and weapons than waiting to hit a specific XP goal. The unlocks also stay with you as you prestige, but they don't stay with you when you build more characters for your squad.
  • Cranked is a lot of fun. I don't like Team Deathmatch as I prefer more objective type gameplay, but Cranked puts a fun spin on TDM-type game play.
  • Search and Rescue is practically the same game type as Search and Destroy. I don't understand the bitching and moaning. In fact, I'd argue Search and Rescue requires more strategy as it requires the team to actually function like a team.
  • Extinction is far more easier to get into and understand than Zombies from the Treyarch titles.
  • The guns are surprisingly balanced.

The Ugly:
  • The respawn points are fucking atrocious. In every game, there would be numerous times I would die because I would spawn right on top of an enemy. What happened to spawning with-or-near your team?
  • Where the fuck are the dedicated servers we were promised? Connectivity and lag are far worse than any entry to date. The lag on Ghosts make Black Ops 2 look like it had the best connectivity to date. It makes the game nearly unplayable. Out of every five games I would play, two of the five would either have to migrate the host or would result in the host in timing out. I was unable to play a proper game of Extinction due to such issues.
  • The maps are far too big. If I wanted to play a FPS on a large map with multiple advantage points due to elevation, I'd play Battlefield 4. I play Call of Duty for the chaotic, run-and-gun nature of the game. The only map that is true to the style of past maps is Strikezone. I spent more times on maps running around to find action rather than actually partaking in firefights.
  • The perk system is a step backwards from the innovation of the Pick 10 system in Black Ops 2.
While the map issue can't be fixed (well, maybe with DLC), a lot of those issues can be. Hopefully IW gets their shit together for the PS4 and Xbox One launches of the game. If not, I might stick to Treyarch-only titles for future. That is until they drop the ball.

Worst case scenario: we'll always have Titanfall.

So the maps are are huge and you spent more time running around looking for the action, then actually being in the action, and yet you still spawned right on top of the enemy? huh?

I agree. The maps are huge. I've run around for what felt like forever and saw no one

Dedicated servers will be on the current gen once the next gen is released. Why they are waiting to go online then I have no idea.

There are a few maps that are larger than before, but it's really designed for next gen with a 9v9 in mind. Still I have found if you adapt to it (using marksman with a scope) it gets easier. I like to run and gun, but with this COD you have to slow your roll a bit to be sucessful.

I actually like the new perk system better. Everyone used the holy trinity in BLOPS2 (lightweight, toughness, dexterity) The new perk system allows you to tweak it depending on the game mode. Once I figured that out I love it.

The other thing I found out to make the spawning better is to wait a few seconds before spawning. DON'T smash the X button to get back into the fray right away and the spawns work better. But yeah overall they suck.

To me coming from BF this COD actually feels like BFBC2 to me minus the vehicles.

Yes. It's extremely frustrating.

I don't know if it's similar to BFBC2. I don't really feel like I've seen anyone utilize the destructible environments. The only maps I've noticed any changes in have been Octane and Chasm. In fact, the only time the map really changes is when someone launches a KEM strike.

It took me a few hours to realize I could purchase perks with the squad points rather than having to wait for them to unlock. Stalker and Blast Shield were the first two I purchased.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

I have only played TDM and maps feel fine for that type of game. Also, I always revive next to a team mate, and I also see teammates reviving next to me.

I haven't tried any other mode, so YMMV.

The biggest offender of "Enjoy your shitty respawn point!" occurred in Domination. I also noticed it in Blitz and Cranked as well.

It's still an insta-death every time someone fires at me.

Squads has really ruined the MP for me. It's hard to go back to that crap after the near perfect connections in Squads.

I meant more so with the gunplay and such, not destructible enviroments. Stalker and Focus are must haves IMO

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

I had always been a shotgun whore and these maps or tweaks to the game have basically broken that playstyle for me.

I switched to trying to run and gun less and play better with a sniper and I am enjoying myself. It reminds me of Call of Duty 2 more than the others in that it feels like the pace of the game is slower.

You don't fucking say? You mean playing on an HD 55" or bigger screen with a near perfect Xbox 360 controller isn't trumped by a 7" screen meant for toilet time?

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts (November 2013)

So I consider myself new to COD MP. I need some tips, help on how to get better.

Right now I'm Level 18. I've played mostly MP. I think I've never got more than 7-8 kills. My KD was really low at the beginning, of course, but in the last day it was around 0.8, for the day, my global is still really low.

So I'm looking for tips on what kind of weapon, perks, attachments, ammo, etc. I should consider using. I mostly use an assault rifle. I tried the sniper, but wasn't really good.

I am in love with the second sniper (iirc) that is lethal from the knees up. Toss on a thermal scope.

I also run Support kill streaks so I can contribute even during a bad game.

LSAT with grip and tracker sight. For perks run focus, dead silence, off the grid and hardline. I was absolutely destroying people with this setup earlier today.
