Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

I doubt it, they seem too dumb to of been that smart. I agree, fix the dumb traffic (this goes for pedestrians too!), and increase city size (I'd say 4x), and I'll be happy for now. It really does need more content though. Something to make it more difficult would be nice as well. Ignoring bugs, it's incredibly difficult to build a bad city, even when you are trying to.

Curious about this game. Can you wreak havoc to the cities? i.e. create natural disasters, melt down Nuclear power plants, blow up buildings, trains, cause Nuclear War to break out? i wanna be able to build a suicide escalator

Yeah, but you have to unlock the disasters one at a time. Then you can unleash them whenever you want. They aren't very destructive though, unless you are really unlucky. Nuclear meltdowns however, are pretty devastating, as the radiation unleashed never goes away.

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

The developers never saw something like this occur in testing and thought it might be a problem?

Seems pretty realistic to me, women can't drive in the real world either.

You apparently have to be a real fuckup to even unleash a meltdown, though. I've been trying and have had no luck so far.

Maybe they fixed the bug where your skilled workers drops for no reason and causes a meltdown. That hit many people, including me. Quite annoying. You really don't want a meltdown though, unless you are completely done playing with that city, there is no repairing that damage.

Somone on reddit found as long as you set the taxes to 0%, the Sims don't even care:

Yeah, I have one city that I've just been trying to destroy. I've had Godzilla rampage through it five times, destroyed every school and library (so as to decrease the amount of skilled workers), and have two huge nuclear reactors in the middle of a town that currently has no police or fire force, and yet, everything's perfectly fine. I'm not sure what else I can do.

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

For those of you who bought the physical copy, after you install the game, does it still require the disc to be in the computer in order to play it, or does it just require the Origin thing to be active?

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

Unlike The Sims 3, you do not need the disc in to play it.

Stupid The Sims 3....

That's exactly why I asked. I figured it was the same. Thanks!

Looks like you can play this offline. EA is pretty much caught in huge lies. Shocking: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...%2C+Shotgun%29

Guess no one noticed this in beta testing either

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

The list of games that you get to select from are up... They are all standard editions. At least give everyone BF 3 premium if they pick BF!

Battlefield 3
Bejeweled 3
Dead Space 3
Mass Effect 3
MoH Warfighter
NFS Most Wanted
Plants Vs Zombies
SimCity 4 Deluxe (must be for all the people who want to play offline!)

https://help.ea.com/article/simcity-...BRR0uXB8xbWcXl

When can I start to get my free game?
The free game portal will be rolling out in waves, and it will be available in the following regions by these dates:

North America by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Wednesday, March 20.
Europe by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Thursday, March 21.
Asia & South America by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Friday, March 22.

During the rollout, individual users may find they get access to the free game portal slightly before or after others in their region. Everyone worldwide will have access no later than 5:00PM PST on March 22 and will have until March 30 at 11:59PM PST to redeem.

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

1.1 million copies sold.

http://news.ea.com/press-release/com...million-launch

I know its not a good excuse, but I can only assume that's way more then they predicted since PC only releases aren't typically that big (with some exceptions like Blizzard or maybe Valve).

If it's a PC mainstay you have to expect big sales.

RTS, MMO, Diablo, and SimfuckingCity

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

I've been primarily a PC gamer for decades, and I didn't think SimCity was that big of a name/title anymore. At least compared to some of the others.

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

So bored with Sim City. Need the "big" patch they've been talking about. At least then traffic won't be as stupid and the recycling bug will be fixed.

Re: SimCity (2013) (PC/Mac)

So maybe this is all heresay, but if you want to continue playing Sim City, don't contact Amazon about it... for anything:

http://consumerist.com/2013/03/18/ea...efund-request/

I don't think Amazon is even selling the game at this point anyway...

edited to add: I guess they suspended the digital version only temporarily, but man that's the worst rating I've seen on amazon in some time... also this is apparently old news, since reports started coming in last week, and EA says they're not really banning people if they haven't initiated chargebacks, and if they did that it was a mistake of some kind...
