If it is a great game you would probably want a sequel or something equally unique or experimental from the team that made it (Think Beyond Good & Evil or Eternal Darkness). It's great if you or I like it, but if it tanks it all ends there.

Well they got to make another game after Indigo Prophecy which didn't burn up the sales charts.

Yep. If only Dyack didn't have such a hard on for his Too Human Trilogy.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken

The problem is that some people will bag on it if it doesn't sell a million copies even if a huge percentage of the people that play it really enjoy it. I would rather have a game that I really enjoy that sells a paltry number than some of these titles that are fun but made to please the masses (Modern Warfare 2). Some Xbox fans are hoping that this fails just as some are talking up Dante's Inferno so that they can feel that they're not missing out on anything.

And for Heavy Rain too.

Last year I joined the bandwagon and got KillZone 2 and didn't get disappointed, although outside of the PS3 circles the game wasn't that well received.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken

A reminder from Joystiq:
pre-ordering the title (Heavy Rain) will get you free launch-day access to the first downloadable Heavy Rain Chronicles episode, which won't be available otherwise until a later date (at which point it'll be $5).
I preordered it even though I had no idea what the hell the title was. I don't normally do that sort of thing, but now I'm really glad I did:

Item(s) Subtotal: $56.99
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Gold Box Discount: -$2.85
Promotion Applied: -$5.70
-----
Total Before Tax: $48.44
Estimated Tax: $0.00
-----
Grand Total: $48.44

______________
edit: I hope nobody minds, but there seems to be enough interest in this game so I started an offical Heavy Rain thread so that we can discuss this game in greater depth.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken

What'd you get the extra 10% off from?

Or was that from back when ECA was handing out discounts?

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken

I'm really tiring of the copy protected saves. Two of my three recent purchases will not let me backup my game saves and it really pisses me off. The two in question are Assassins Creed 2 and The Saboteur. However, Darksiders will let you backup your save as it should. Sony really needs to have them do away with this and tie the game saves to the specific user to prevent whatever the publishers are trying to keep from happening. I keep an SD card in my PS3 system and like to backup my new game saves on a daily basis after the travesty of getting the YLOD on my main 60 last March.

Is there any way to delete the trophy information? The reason I ask is that I played a game, didn't like it, got rid of it but the trophies that I got on that game are still there under my username.

I seriously doubt it. There isn't with 360 Achievements either once you're above a 0 score on a game. Besides, who cares -- those trophies still count towards your total level even if you didn't like the game.

I wish there was a way though. I'm careful about which games I decide to rent or borrow because I don't want an entry for trophies I'll never get.

I feel the same way and thus the reason why I asked the question.

I just found out that Demon's Souls won't allow you to copy your save. And I spent hours/days on it just getting through the first levels while I was home for the holidays. Now that I'm going back to New York, I can't take it with me. Some things blow, but this super blows.

That along with:
Dragons Age
The Saboteur
Assassins Creed 2

are games I've just recently purchased that will not allow me to backup my game saves. This is an issue that really needs to be addressed by Sony with an alternative solution put into place. Having a gaming system (games) that doesn't allow the player to protect his work or the option to switch out consoles without a loss is unacceptable in this day and age. I can't even go into the other room and play on my other PS3 without having to start all over again.

Glad I didn't start Dragon Age yet.

However, Sony should be able to step in and ask that they change how it is done. The gamers should be left to feel the pain when their system goes down or they have to take their game with them but not that particular system.

This annoys me to no end. The saves are locked to your profile so its not like you can post it online for others to use. I guess they are worried about people moving it to a PC and hacking the save, but I really hate it when I can't back up my saves. HDDs fail and losing all your saves when one does would really suck.
