VENN TV (Video Game Entertainment News Network) -- Launches 8/5/20
Network launch trailer:
VENN is a new kind of TV network for the streaming generation, aimed at gaming, pop culture, and esports audiences. Beta launching August 2020 live from Los Angeles, and later Three World Trade Center in New York, VENN will be distributed across a broad range of media platforms and offer original programming produced in-house and in partnership with some of the biggest names and creators across industries.
Anyone heard about this new network. It's a new 24/7 streaming Video game network that will premiere on August 5th. 2 of my former co-workers got hired to work there. Sounds fun and I'm intrigued to check it out. I have to assume this network will either stream on YouTube or launch an ad supported app of some sorts.
Is there anything at all similar to this? Some have said it sounds like Cheddar. I've never actually watched or streamed anything from Cheddar.
Any thoughts? Does this type of content interest anyone here? or could you all care less about this? I like video games and pop culture news and if there is going to be a 24/7 source for that information than just sporadic YouTube clips, I'm interested.
I'm familiar with one of the on air talent who got hired. Emma Fyffe. She does a lot of YouTube shows and has worked at Collider and the Schmoedown and also streams on Twitch. She seems cool and is cute for a gaming nerd.

I used to watch the earlier generation of G4TV (my grandparents had one of the BIG satellite dishes in their backyard.) (Although it says G4TV began in 2002, I seem to remember it, or something similar, prior to that. I could be mistaken on the timeline.)
There is some gaming focused streaming channel on my LG's IPTV listings I watch occasionally.
That said, assuming I can get VENN (maybe it'll be a ROKU channel?) I'll check it out. I hope it isn't all personality-based live streaming stuff (from the trailer it looks like there's some variety in the content and the way it's presented, so that's good.)

So VENN launches this Wednesday
They released a bunch of sizzle/promo trailers for their launch programming:
The ones that look interesting to me are VENN arcade live, The Download and Dare Package. and maybe Guest House.
I'm going to pass of the Looking for Gains and I have no idea WTF that Sushi Dragon show is.

This channel is now live. You can watch it on YouTube on the VENN TV channel. It's also live on the website.
2 former colleagues and about 3 or 4 friends of mine are working for this channel.

You can watch the live stream on YouTube. Just look for VENN TV and watch YouTube on your Apple TV.
There's no dedicated app right now. It live streams on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter only at the moment. The site says Vizio Tvs, STIRR and Xumo are coming soon.

So I sampled 3 of their shows over the last 2 days.
The Download - Not bad. It's a daily geek culture news show talking about games, movies, streaming. I dig that kind of stuff and I could see myself watching it every now and then. The hosts have personality. One of them is actually an actor who has a small role in Mulan.
Guest House -- 2 hours long. The girl who's the host Chrissy Constanza is cute. But, honestly I think this show would bore most of you to tears. It's Chrissy with a new guest every day playing games and them just chatting. The chatting got really boring after awhile. Today's guest was some female Asian gamer and they got into talking fashion, cooking and what they were doing in quarantine. This would be very uninteresting to all you middle aged dudes.
VENN Arcade Live -- Personality driven gaming show. It was alright. The 2 girls who are the co-hosts are cute. They interview and play games with people in the gaming world.
I'll check out this channel every now and then, but I won't make it appointment viewing.
