Their system was ripe for the picking by selfish douchebags. They need to tie your "reward" back to your reward card like Best Buy does. This would also prevent you from losing a reward receipt and having no recourse... like I did with a $25 reward

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

it's too bad about the Kmart stuff. Not sure if moving it all to the rewards card will help either, unless they build in some kind of delay. My Kmart got in 75 copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops, the electronics guy was complaining that there was no way there were gonna sell that many - that was the deal where if you bought it you got 25,000 point on your rewards card. I went back right before Christmas and was talking to the same guy, I jokingly asked what happened to all their copies. Dude straight up told me that their manager allowed a family member to come in and buy about 35 copies individually, with each purchase giving him $25 off the next copy plus the manager's store discount, so he could go sell it on ebay. Eventually the guy's reward card stopped working, and the manager called in and got them to override it to allow him to keep purchasing them.

Bummer about K-Mart. I bought damn near (and possibly) every game there since Sept.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

It's pretty simple. TRU has it where there is a 6 hr delay before you can use your discount towards the next purchase.

I wound up not bothering to go back to the store to use the $20 coupon.

Actually, it's $29.99 and up for Best Buy. I'm heading over there now to check things out.

Thanks for the heads up on the pricing error. I fixed it in my original post.

The guy in charge is working on something now. He will respond to any realistic suggestion in the Kmart thread on CAG.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

That's cool, if anything it will slow my buying. I think the only major release I didn't get there was Dead Rising 2 which I ordered way back with ECA discounts on Amazon.

I do wish I jumped on Donkey Kong and Kirby though. It's going to be a while before a decent deal could be had on those.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Books-A-Million actually has some decent cheap-o games available, like Dark Sector for $4.99 and Lego Indiana Jones for $7.99 (both 360). They also had MadWorld (Wii) marked at $10. Some of their other offerings aren't all that hot, like Greatest Hits stuff for only 10% off list, but a few decent aging games can be found. All were new, not pre-owned.

EA Store: 50% off and free shipping until 7PM EST today only

EA Store

Grabbed The Saboteur and Mass Effect 2 (both for 360) for $21 shipped total.

Bunch of other stuff, too--Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for $30, Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate for $25, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate for $20, NBA Jam for $25, etc.

Note: Not good on Dead Space 2 (360 and PS3) or Mass Effect 2 (PS3) even though they're both in stock.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Is there some minimum order or promo code you need to get this to work? I tried to only order the Saboteur (PS3), and it's charging me full price + Shipping.

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I guess you actually have to click on the offer graphic in that link before you search for the title.

FYI Dragon Age is really disappointing compared to Mass Effect.

You may be right that it's disappointing in comparison to Mass Effect -- but there's very little that isn't.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

thx

i used to buy a lot of games and not finish them, this time i'm playing everything i buy or sell it right away. and don't really fall for the hype any more of buying something on release day or stocking up during sales.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Saw this at SD: Gamestop is running a deal where if you buy a new game, you can get a used one half off. There aren't any price or platform restrictions, so you can just buy a cheap new game. I got Blood bowl for PC for 4.99 and then got NHL11 for half off for the 360.

Almost every newer PS3 used game is sold out, but the 360 selection is pretty decent. I put in a $10 Rock Band Track Pack that I've been wanting, so now I have to choose something from this list

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, I rushed last night with the Blood Bowl purchase and wished I'd have gone with the track pack. Maybe I can exchange in store.
