Pig - I just called another local wal-mart and asked for a price on the game, the guy said:
guy: "$49:98"
me: "oh, i was at another store, they were sold out, but it was $17.99"
guy: "we are sold out to"
me: "thanks"
..... so i think that they had the same mis-price, sold out there stock, then someone realized the mistake?

As most would expect when a title hits #4, it's not selling nearly as well as expected. Although $17.99 may have been an isolated mistake, expect discounts on THPS4 soon.
November NPD sales data for Activision was terrible declining 28% YOY.
In our view, sales of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4, were lackluster given that the game launched on October 23, and contributed to an entire month of sales in the November NPD Data. Comparatively, WWE: Shut Your Mouth (THQ Inc.) sold more units in two weeks (November 13, 2002 launch) than Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 in the entire month. After having a slow start out of the gate it appears demand for the Tony Hawk franchise has started to wane and December will be telling for the brand. Clearly the release of GTA-VC and WWE: Shut Your Mouth made for difficult competition at retail, taking some of the wind out of TH4 sales. We believe the extreme sports category is "long in the tooth" and will remain weak in CY03.

Too bad it looks like some minimum wage monkey boy messing up.
Plus, it rang up for $17.99 at the register.
I agree that it was a screw up, but probably by someone a little higher up the walmart food chain!
Considering that 3 Tony Hawk titles or out for the xBox, its pretty easy to see how the mistake could be made....
Now, is the game any good? Should i open it up and play it? or give it awy for xmas?

the new one at the intersection of Germantown Pike and 202, in East Norriton.
They were sold out last evening, may have more today, but probably at the correct price?
I bet the wal-marts out in the NE are pretty chaotic aren't they? stuff all over the shelves all disorganized?
