I love how previous actors were brought back for scenes. Never thought I'd see some of them on this series again.

Re: The Crown (Netflix) -- Queen Elizabeth II series from Peter Morgan
Seeing the scene with Chuck and Camy doing the dirty talk that got recorded and released and hearing how they approached presenting this scandal BTS on the official "The Crown" Podcast gave me a whole new perspective. Like they said, this was a middle aged couple who have been madly in love for years and who knew each other. The call started out romantic, then became fun cheeky talk between 2 lovers/friends. It didn't feel so "icky" given all that. We've all had those fun cheeky convos with lovers. I have a new view of Chuck and Camy after that. The guy who recorded their cell call and then shared it was a piece of shit.

Just finished the season. I'lll always remember when a co-worker of mine mentioned that The Queen cried more over her Ships being taken out of service than when Diana died.

The sixth and final season of The Crown is coming. Watch Part 1 from November 16th, Part 2 from December 14th.
Inspired by real events, this fictional dramatisation tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign.

Finish watching all four episode. Like the actress playing Diana despite being tall she look very much like the real Diana. Prince Philip is a asshole never like him a bit. Second half base on the trailer be about Prince William maybe show Harry's trouble like wearing a swastika at the party.

I watched the four episodes. Eh.
I don't have any special interest in British history and less in the royal family, but I found the previous seasons to be very interesting and entertaining as historical drama.
These four episodes focus on the last two months of Diana's life and the immediate events after her death. It was all well-acted with excellent production values, but I don't have the interest in Diana (as a person) to be captivated by her dalliance with Dodi Al Fayed. . Although, I expect there are LOTS of people who will love these episodes because of their feelings about Diana. The fourth episode is stuck covering much of the same ground that was dramatized much better in the movie "The Queen." So, y'know, go watch that.
Still, the series is high quality work about a real subject, so and to that.

I don’t think there has been a death since hers that comes close.
Personally the one that cuts closest was prince

Only watched the premier, but disliked the opening. They should have just started with her and William driving in the car.

It really turned into the Diana show for those episodes.

But otherwise, I'm with you. I was never big into the Diana stuff as it happened. I watched the first episode. I'll certainly finish it off, but I'm in no hurry to do so.

Re: The Crown (Netflix) -- Queen Elizabeth II series from Peter Morgan
We finished up the first half of season 6. As said, too much Diana focus instead of viewing historic events through the royal family. I think the last one did work on that level, because it was both a pivotal historic event and personal to them. I guess they just had to get there.
I think the ghost scenes were a bit odd, but I get why he put them. They were filmed to show they were conversations in the characters heads, but also was a vehicle for Morgan to expound on what it all meant.
I will say the actor who plays Dodi’s father is quite good. You feel sympathy for him, but at the same time horror as he comes across as partially to blame since he was pushing so much for the pairing.

I binged season 5 and the first half of 6 over the last week,
They made Charles more sympathetic than I thought they would.
Hard to tell if Mohamed Al-Fayed was more upset about Dodi's death or his dream that Dodi marrying Diana would somehow get him closer to the Royal Family was also dead.

Peter Morgan who writes The Crown also wrote The Queen. According to him on the podcast, He seems to have intentionally made this version of the Diana's death and aftermath very different from The Queen.

I watched the first 3 of the new episodes and it’s pretty much the Prince William show now.

The 5th and 6th season aren't as good as the other one. The historical drama isn't there anymore it's "just" a soap. Well acted, well produced but not as engaging. Neither the last two months of Diana's life nor the creepy romance between William and Kate was that great. The finale was the best episode and I liked the farewell episode to Margaret, but Lesley Manville didn't incorporate the role as much as Kirby and Bonham Carter did, since the character was mostly pushed aside.

I thought Diana's canoodling with Dodi Fayed was uninteresting until I started watching the courtship of William and Kate.

I still have to watch the last episode.
I had no idea about the whole Kate/William thing - is that actually true - especially with her mom's maneuvering? If so, damn. Yikes. That is creepy.
I thought the Tony Blair episode was very good.

I think the earlier seasons were more interesting because I personally didn't know a lot of the background the more modern stuff I was more aware of.

I haven't finished the the latest batch but to hear to heart convo between Phillip and William was amazing. I also really "felt" the stuff with Margaret's final days with the Elizabeth.
